6 Essential Nail Polishes

I would like to preface this post with an admission - I am a nail polish hoarder. I have about 48 bottles of nail polish (all in different colors) and there is just no reason nor an excuse for that. No one should have that many bottles of nail polish, yet here I am :/.

That said, I think that there are a few colors that every woman should have in their collection:

Neutral: If you work in a conservative office like me, you know you need to cool it with loud colors. I love Essie's "Limo-Scene" I like how this color matches my natural nails but give them a cleaner, more polished sheen.

Red: It's interesting how gorgeous a bright, true red can look - it's bold but classic so anyone can pull it off. I would even go so far to say that you could wear this color to work (that is if your office is a bit more casual). My favorite red polish is Sally Hansen's "Cherry Red"

White: Used to be, when I thought of white nail polish, images of my middle school days when girls would use white out on their nails came to mind (shudder). BUT I'm finding a lot of uses for white nail polish now. I use it for nail art, mostly, but also as a way to make my other nail polish colors brighter. Is your bright polish a bit sheer? Wear it over white nail polish and I guarantee it will look opaque and even brighter! I usually use Sally Hansen's "White Out "(ironically)

Pink/bright: Speaking of bright colors, everyone needs a bright polish. I usually lean towards the pinks, but any kind of bright polishes are absolutely essential for the weekends. I am a big fan of Revlon's 'Peachy'

Glitter/fun: I know, glitter polishes are a pain in the butt to take off but when they are on, they are so much fun! I like Sally Hansen's "Snowglobe" because it goes with every color. And to help convince you, here is an easy way to remove glitter polish.

Black: Like white polish, black polish can be used for a variety of different kinds of nail art. Also, at the risk of sounding like a moody person, I think black nail polish looks incredibly chic on its own. I use Wet n' Wild's 229C "Ebony Hates Chris."

What do you guys think of my list? Is there a nail polish that you cannot live without?

  3. I also love grey-beige, it doesn't stand out as much as white does and goes with any outfit.
