I Accept this Award

I'm so honored that Brittney from True Vintage Love has given me a Liebster! I always saw these on other blogs and wondered when my blog would ever be good enough for one. Well, now it has haha!

The Liebster Award, I've found, is an award that's given by bloggers to other bloggers who have less than 200 followers. It's a way to connect bloggers to other bloggers and build relationships and network and such.

Here are the rules when nominated:
  • Accept the award.
  • Answer the questions set by the blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 other blogs, avoiding repeats, and comment on their blogs to notify them of their nomination!
  • Set 11 questions of your own for your nominees to answer.
  • Paste the Liebster Badge in your post.
So without further ado, here are the questions I must answer:

1. What is the most difficult thing about blogging?

For me, it's just finding time to take pictures, network with other bloggers, and go out and look for other bloggers with great style. I love doing all of these things but I also have a full time job in the political field and my hours aren't always 9-5. However, I wouldn't trade my lifestyle for the world - I love my job and I love blogging. If I complain too much about them, I deserve divine punishment :]

2. What do you think is the number one important thing to do as a blogger?

As a blogger, I think it's extremely important to connect with other bloggers on a sincere level. I didn't really figure that out until fairly recently. I don't like when people give me half-hearted compliments in real life so I try to give other bloggers sincere and heartfelt comments. If I really like a particular post a blogger has done, I try to think about why I like it and tell them so. That's my approach to connecting with others. I always appreciate it when others do the same.

3. What is your favorite candy?

Hands down, I love Haribo gummy bears. I can munch on those things allllllllllll day. Especially the green ones.

4. If you were president, what is the number one thing you would change?

Oh geez, ask a political person that question haha. Well, I guess the first thing I would change is dependence on oil. I think that the government should really invest more in renewable energy. Fuel is a limited resource and I'm sure we could find a better way to use it than just burn it up in our cars.

5. What is the one thing you can't leave the house with?

A hair tie. I'm sure you all have noticed that I'm wearing a hair tie in almost all of my pictures when my hair is down. That's because I'm using it in pictures when my hair is up. It's literally always on me and it's such a life-saver! Sometimes, you just need your hair out of your face for a minute but you want it down for happy hour. I think hair ties are just necessary for every woman.

6. If you could only use one make up product for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Probably lipstick. I like how it can change up the entire look and feel of an outfit. Mascara would be a close second though - I have very short and sparse lashes that just need primping up daily.

7. Do you feel you were born in the wrong era?

Yes and no. In terms of fashion, I think I'm more of a 50s or even early 60s girl. BUT then I remember how little rights women and minorities had back then and how they were treated and then I'm glad I was born now.

8. What are your goals for your blog?

I guess my first big goal is to get 100 followers on Bloglovin. I'm not quite there yet but I'm trying to make that goal by the end of the year. My other goal is to always make sure my content is fresh - I want my readers to always read my best work, not something that I just threw together without a second thought. Finally I want my content to be readable and regular. I've been pretty good with scheduling my posts but some weeks, things happen and I leave my readers to take care of it (sorry!). I also want the people who actually do sit and read my blog to actually enjoy what I write - it's not simply pictures with me :]

9. What do you look for in a blog to follow?

I know this sounds so superficial but I'm a sucker for a blog with good images. Quality isn't everything but I've been to some blogs where their pictures are blurry and dark and I can't see what they're writing about. I'm sort of a visual person so yes, images are quite important to me. I also like bloggers who have a personality behind their fashion choices. Maybe it's because I put time and effort into writing my posts but a lot of times, blogs with no content other than pretty pictures seems a bit soul-less to me.

10. What makes you laugh the most?

It's so easy to get me to laugh - I laugh at everything, even myself! If I really had to narrow it down, I would say the shows Archer, Parks and Recreation, and the first three season of Arrested Development make me laugh the most. In my real life, I mostly laugh at awkward circumstances (or at least looking back at them), situations I can only describe as schadenfreude, and certain people who just have that charismatic humor to them.

11. What matters the most to you in life?

I think the most important things in life are 1) being kind to everyone and especially those you love and 2) loving life. I think that simple kindness gets lost in a place like Washington, DC and sometimes people equate kindness as weakness or being a pushover but that's not true. Being a decent human being does not mean having to put yourself behind others - its about recognizing others' worth as equal to yours. It's an underrated quality, but I think it's important to stay strong and be the best person that you can be. I also think it's important to have a passion for life - after all, if you don't enjoy your life and you walk around miserable all the time, well you're not really living are you? One should always stop and smell the roses, if you will. Happiness in life is not something that just comes, one should put effort into gaining it.

Now that my looong answers are written (sorry about that) here are the 11 blogs I nominate (sorry if you have more than 200 followers)
Now here are my questions:
  1. What inspired you to start blogging?
  2. What is your favorite article of clothing in your closet at the moment?
  3. If you could live in any decade except the current one, when would you live?
  4. What is your favorite place in the world?
  5. Who is your celebrity crush? Past or present
  6. What is the last book you've read?
  7. What is your secret guilty pleasure?
  8. Who is your icon?
  9. Is there a skill that you wish you had? If so, what is it?
  10. What are some items in your purse you can't live without?
  11. What would you like to change most about the world?
Again, thank you Brittney for nominating me! I look forward to reading everyone's answers! :]

  1. I'm new to your blog and really enjoyed reading your answers to these questions and getting to "know" you a bit better!

I really like you blog and your sense of fashion. I struggle with trying to find the time to blog amidst my schedule too, but as long as we do what works for us and have fun, that's all that matters! :)

  7. It's always refreshing to see a blogger who is educated about important issues! I also need a mix of images and writing to keep me interested---Atlantic pacific has some great outfits, but I feel like I know nothing about her, and I have no connection to her blog.
