Movie Night: How to Steal a Million

I finally saw How to Steal a Million last week - it was the only film Audrey Hepburn was in I hadn't seen and I am so happy I finally watched it!

The film is about a a woman, Nicole Bonnet (played by the beautiful Audrey Hepburn) whose father, Charles Bonnet, forges famous paintings and sculptures for a living. Her father finally goes too far and fakes a Cellini Venus sculpture and insures it for $1,000,000. To the surprise of the Bonnets the museum curator that the Bonnets lends the Cellini to, decides to test the sculpture for forgery, as part of the agreement for the insurance. Nicole hatches a plan with an "art thief" she meets to steal the fake sculpture to keep her father's reputation intact and prevent him from going to prison. Hilarity ensues.

When I think of heist movies, I usually think of films like Oceans Eleven with elaborate technology involved and such. This movie was much more charming and down to earth. While the art thief, played by the charismatic Peter O'Toole, is very charming (every heist needs a charming leading man, amirite?) and Nicole is beautiful and naive, I found this film to keep me on my toes and laugh out loud at some points.

If you decide to watch an old classic this weekend, please consider How to Steal a Million

    1. It used to be on Netflix - they took it off a few months ago unfortunately. My roommate bought the DVD online and that's how I watched it. I also know Amazon has it on their instant watch for their Prime users.

  16. You're so true, traditionally I do think of Ocean's eleven or other more recent films. I haven't really watched many old movies, but this one sounds interesting. Plus, Audrey Hepburn is a style icon :)

    1. Hi Samantha
I am indeed following you on Bloglovin but I haven't set up a public BL profile which apparently means I follow people anonymously - I am currently working on that. It should say that your follower count went up though. Once I set things up on BL properly my name should be on your followers list :]
