El Clasico | Real Madrid Scarf and Converse Lo-Tops

So here's a confession that will most likely make a lot of my European readers hate me: I'm a huge soccer fan - specifically, a Real Madrid fan! I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain my junior year of college where I gained an appreciation for both the sport and the team. My host family that I was staying with threatened me with eviction (they were kidding of course) if they ever caught me cheering for Barcelona. Real Madrid definitely has a special place in my heart - it was my first real exposure to European Football and Madrid culture.

Since then I try to catch every game that they play. In case you're unfamiliar with soccer or Spanish La Liga, Real Madrid has kind of a rivalry going on with Barcelona. They have two matches per season so when they do meet on the field, tickets are sold out and there's excitement in the air. The last game Madrid ended up winning 2-1. Here's hoping we can win it again!

Though I am personally a Real Madrid fan, I appreciate Barcelona. In fact there's something interesting about European clubs and that are just so different from teams in other continents (here's looking at you, America!). Their teamwork is superb and there are moments where I feel like the game is magical! Anyways, I'm quite excited about this match.

Do you guys watch soccer? Are you a Madrid fan or Team Barça? Also please don't hate me too much for liking Real Madrid :]

Soccer might not be my favorite sport to watch, but I do love playing it a lot, especially with my little cousins! :)

  8. Dearest Deborah, until I became 16 or so I was the absolutely huge soccer fan, and I think you aren´t astonished that I was a fan of FC Bayern München. At this time I knew everything about this team and soccer in general but looks like as if then I got other interests ;) Not only of this cause - why shouldn´t you be a soccer fan? I think soccer is a perfect possibility to show emotions, to look at beautiful young men and it´s also a perfect destraction of the normal daily life, and your happiness and smiling in the pictures of this post confirms my opinion :) Keep it up!

Wish you a happy rest of the weekend <3

  19. I used to watch soccer or football as we call it here in the UK a lot when I was younger but not so much anymore. My husband is not into football which is nice when we want to go out. A lot of my friends husbands are glued to the screen and will not leave the house until the game is over.
But every now and then I miss a good match!!

  21. I don't really keep up with soccer or any sport actually. When I was in Barcelona though, Real Madrid and Barcelona were playing each other and when Barcelona won, everyone was shouting out of their windows and setting off fireworks.
