Versatile Blogger Award and Nominees

I was nominated by the lovely Jenna from Northern Beauty 85 and Linda of I am Linderella for the Versatile Blogger Award! I'm so honored and touched that anyone would even think of my blog when thinking of people to nominate for any sort of award! What a great feeling!

Apparently, those nominated are supposed to
  • Display the award certificate on your blog
  • Thank the nominator and add a link to their blog
  • Present 15 deserving bloggers with the award. When nominating, consider
    • Quality of the writing
    • Uniqueness of the subject covered
    • Level of love displayed in their writing
    • Quality of photographs
    • Level of love displayed in their photographs
  • Link your nominees in this post and let them know in a comment
  • Post seven interesting facts about yourself
So here goes - seven facts about myself:
  1. I have never dyed my hair ever. I have thought about changing my hair color a few times but as my hair is quite dark, I'd have to bleach it first. Then the roots would come out dark. And thinking about all of that - it just seems a lot more trouble than it's worth. My hair naturally does this weird thing where it looks almost reddish in certain lighting though so... it's almost like a dye job? haha.
  2. I have a brother who is five and a half years younger than me. Our age difference and gender difference has prevented us from getting into huge fights over the years and we're quite close.
  3. I don't like chocolate. I had really bad food poisoning when I was younger from a s'mores pop tart and now have a severe aversion to chocolate and marshmallows. It's so sad :[
  4. I am ethnically Korean. I was born and raised here in the US though and I think culturally I'm more American than I am Korean. I do speak Korean fluently though and I'm quite glad I do - very handy sometimes.
  5. In high school, I was a part of our school newspaper all four years and I was the editor-in-chief my Senior year. I seriously wanted to become a political reporter and even got a scholarship to college from The Washington Post to do so. It only half worked out haha.
  6. I studied abroad in both Spain and the UK during my university days - Universidad Potificia Comillas in Madrid and Oxford University in England. I had so much fun those two years and I would go back in a heartbeat!
  7. After graduating university I decided to take 6 months off and went to teach English in a Buddhist monastery in Tibet. I'm not Buddhist myself but it was such a rewarding spiritual experience!
Here are my nominees:
  • Rena from Dressed with Soul: It is sincerely a joy to read Rena's blog - you can tell she honestly enjoys life, blogging, and fashion by the way she writes, styles, and publishes her posts. I admire her hard work and zesty approach to blogging and towards life in general.
  • Jenny from Freya's Fashion Chapter: Faithful readers will recognize Jenny from our International Beauty Swap! Jenny is one of the most genuinely nice bloggers I've ever met and may be the first friend I've really made while blogging! She approaches beauty blogging in such a fresh way I don't really see with other beauty bloggers.
  • Lucy from Florals and Corals: I was initially attracted to Lucy's blog by her style but her love of politics got me to come back for more. A style blogger who loves politics as much as I do? Count me in! She's whip smart and stylish to boot!
  • Mili from Call Me Maeby: I love Mili's blog because she's so unapologetically stylish and straightforwardly honest. Visiting her blog is like a breath of fresh air! Also, the name of her blog is a reference to Arrested Development so that should be enough of a reason to like her.
  • Akshara from Simply Akshara: When I'm feeling uninspired or unmotivated, I go to Akshara's blog. She's a talented writer and her blog is full of motivational quotes that help me get through some of my tough days. Definitely check her out!
I know I only nominated five bloggers but many people have been nominated already.

Thanks again to Jenna and Linda! Everyone please check out their blogs - They are fantastic!

    1. Haha poptarts are fine. I think the taste of chocolate in that particular poptart was so rich and that's all I could remember when I was throwing up. I just can't do chocolate, but I can eat other kinds of poptarts.

  8. Dearest Deborah, Tibet is one of my absolutely favourite countries and although I haven´t visited this impressing country until today I read so many books about Tibet! Of this cause I´m excited that you were an English teacher in Tibet, this is a wonderful human work and confirms me again in my positive opinion about you.

The other facts which you told are also interesting, and like you I don´t color my hair!

And I want to thank you so much to nominate my blog for the award and your explanation about my blog and me - I swept off my feet! Thank you so much, you made me absolutely happy and you saved indeed my day <3

Wish you only the best and I want explicit say to you how much I like you, your blog, your style and your kind of writing - and now I know that you have many practice in writing - which is easy to recognize, because I´m always impressed by your talent about writing - due to the fact that you were part of the school newspaper for four years <3

    Wish you a happy weekend!

  11. Deborah, I have only just seen this! I am struggling to keep up with uni work, my dissertation, my life, work and blogging! However your lovely post has inspired me to keep going and try to post as often as I can. Thank you so much for nominating me and I cannot wait to get to work on my post.

Reading through your answers, you have had an amazing and inspiring life. I don't like chocolate in the US either but I love it at home :P when you were in the UK didn't you try any? Cannot beat British milk chocolate. Your so very lucky to have had such a wonderful life so far and have done incredible things, I would love to hear more about them. Korea is on my to travel list ...I went to Thailand this year and Japan a few years back, Korea is definitely next.

Thank you again for nominating me, it really has brightened up my morning :)
