Let's Get Organized: Smartphone Apps

As some of you may remember, I'm getting a new phone this month. While I'm still trying to settle the debate in my head between the iPhone 5s or the Galaxy Note 3 it got me thinking about how to organize all the apps that I have currently. Now I recently went out of my way to clear some space on my iPhone 4 so I could download iOS 7 but I've been thinking of how I'm going to organize my new phone when I get it.

  • Get rid of the apps you don't use: First things first, delete the apps you haven't really used. For me this has included a few games, some organizational apps that I thought I would use and never really did. Chances are, if you haven't used them in the past six months, you're not going to use it ever and it's just taking up. Delete it!
  • Categorize your apps and put them into different sections: Here's the part that's very subjective - categorizing. I personally like to categorize my apps by function but I know some people who find that putting the apps they use the most on the home screen is efficient for them. Everyone has a different system, just find one that works for you.
  • Back it up: Back it all up on the cloud storage! I saved so much information on phone (notes for future blog posts, a few memos for work, etc.) and I instantly regretted not backing it up on iCloud when I deleted some of the apps to make space for iOS 7 (facepalm). Take it from me guys and back up your phones!
DO you guys have any tips or tricks to keeping your apps organized? On that note, I'm still trying to decide which phone to get. Any suggestions?

  1. I would personally choose samsung over any apple products! much more easier to handle I guess! I also categorize my apps - makes life so much easier XD

  2. I love these tips- and actually do most of this. Makes my phone SO much less cluttered (bonus: it runs faster when you remove as much bloatware/extra apps as possible).

    Happy Thursday!

  6. I love how we think a like! Life is so much easier when our phones are organized =D I really don't like that IOS 7 takes so much space and not to mention, takes soooo much battery life! It's so frustrating that I need to charge my phone so often unlike when I had IOS 6 =/ I'll definitely go for Samsung Galaxy if I'm gonna change my phone. :) Would you like us to follow each other in GFC and BlogLovin'? I would love to stay in touch and be friends! :)

  7. Oh my goodness. I have the opposite problem. I don't have ENOUGH apps. Hahaha. I'm the worst iPhone user ever. My husband is constantly telling me that the iPhone is an amazing tool and I don't use it to its potential. But I have Instagram. Isn't that all a girl needs? ;) hehe!

  9. I really can't give you any advice, because I don't organize my phone at all. Even though I really should :p
As for the phone you're getting...I think that Samsung Galaxy Note (all of them) are way to big to be pratical. But that's just my opinion :p

  13. This discussion if the iPhone 5s or the Samsung Galaxy 3 (or now 4) is nearly every day a theme here at work. You have to know that I sit vis-à-vis with the Strategic Purchaser for IT :) I for myself prefer the Samsung, I´m really satisfy with mine, which you the right decision for you!

  16. I need to do this again. Every time my son plays with his games on my phone everything just went crazy. I organized them by category and in each kinda folder.
