I know not everyone celebrates easter but I think we can all agree that spring fashion trends are going to pop up all over the place now, more than ever. I think we all know how excited I am for warmer weather for the sole purpose of being able to wear nicer and brighter clothes. Cold weather is so drab.
This sunday is easter! And since spring is in full swing, I thought of going all out with the florals with this pretty floral dress! It's funny because I used to hate floral prints because it was so girly and I used to be such a tomboy. But now, I realized that being a tomboy doesn't mean losing my femininity. Haha I know, duh! But remember, I was 12 years old. This dress paired with this white blazer the look is fresh and perfect for the spring!
Are you guys obsessed with florals as much as I am?

While it's officially spring, the weather across the country has been, well, less than spring-like. But despair not! We can rely on another trusty, trendy material - leather! Leather has been popular the last few season, but like every other "trend" that I love, leather is timeless and chic. The great thing about leather is that it instantly toughens up an outfit. Here are some great ways to wear leather:
I think that this is the easiest way to wear leather - leather moto jackets have been huge this winter so why not bring it into a cold, early spring day? I like how a casual t-shirt and shorts outfit is instantly edgy when paired with a moto jacket. If it's too cold to get away with wearing just shorts, add a pair of whimsical tights underneath. Finish off with a pair of wedge sneakers and you've got a perfect look for class or hanging out with friends.
I LOVE the look of a cute leather skater skirt - it's a juxtaposition in itself! A flowy skirt is feminine while the leather makes it tough. To play with the juxtaposition, add a girly bow skirt and a bow belt, but wear sturdy ankle boots. This is a great girly-rocker look I would wear on a fun date or the movies. Bright:
I like wearing bright colors - it gives me an instant pick-me-up on a dreary day! While in a previous post I paired a neon blouse with white pants to brighten the colors even more, I paired bright colors with these leather pants tones them down. This outfit is great for a fun night out.
Black and White is trendy this season so I thought today would be a good day to try out this trend.
I bought this tiered dress a few years ago but little did I realize that mirrors in the change room at a store is different from how things look in real life! The dress itself is so full and unflattering. It's hard to cinch in the waist because of the layers! I kept the dress though because I couldn't bear to throw it out but then I realized recently that I can wear this dress with a white blazer! The fit of this blazer helps to cinch in the waist and tone down the fullness of the dress.
What do you guys think of the black and white trend? Chic or too bland?
We're revisiting an old classic today: Little Women
I remember when I first read this book, I was about 10 years old and, as most of the characters were older than me, I had a hard time understanding what was really going on in all the Marches' heads. Rereading this book, however gave me a renewed appreciation for feminism in the 1800s. Looks, status, and wealth is just as important now, than it ever was, but being graceful, kind, and strong is also important, which is what I think Louisa May Alcott was trying to tell her readers.
I always believed I could relate to Jo the most, but now, I think I can see a little bit of Amy in me. I'm not as smooth as Amy, but I think I do have her ambition to be a part of high society someday, although I think I'm still more like Jo in that I would rather get there my way.
I liked the idea of Laurie and Jo together. I think perhaps the reason why I wasn't too happy with Jo and Professor Bhaer was because we never really got in depth with his character as we did with Laurie. The girls grew up with Laurie, and as a reader, so did we. Maybe it's because most of my relationships began as friendships so I thought that it would work, but I guess the writer had other plans for our young heroine.
Anyways, what books do you guys I check out next? Let me know in the comments below!
I have an event to go today and this is what I'm planning to wear:
It's funny because every time I think of floral print in the spring, I can here Miranda Priestley sarcastically saying, "Florals for spring? Groundbreaking." Haha but I can't help it - with the sun shining and the flowers blooming after a long winter, I embrace floral print in the spring!
This outfit reminds me of private school uniforms... but with a floral skirt instead of plaid. As someone who's been out of any kind of educational institution for about a year now this does bring me back. But of course unlike the good old school days, this outfit is classic with a touch of whimsy.
Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you've been enjoying your weekend!
I went to the zoo this weekend! The last time I went to the zoo was my senior year of college! I went with one of my best friends from high school to the Smithsonian National Zoo in DC and saw the pandas, the lions, and the tigers! Haha I definitely felt like a little kid again.
I would like to add a warning right here that I love pandas.
I'm waaaay too excited for this
This is actually an improvement on my face :P
I warned you didn't I? Haha I can't help it - they're so big and cute! I feel quite fortunate to live near a zoo that has pandas!
We also encountered many other animals along the way, including this friendly cheetah:
...And some turtles:
...And some other mammals:
...And some sea animals:
The zoo also had a botanical garden for butterflies. We stopped to get some pictures of the beautiful flowers:
Our last stop at the zoo included a second trip to the gift shop:
My friend and I were joking about how fashionable some of the animals were - Zebras and tigers rocking stripes before they were even popular! haha just the idea of hipster animals made us laugh.
Finally, we went out for coffee afterwards. While it was the nicest weather we had in a while, it was still a bit too cold out for my taste (52 degrees fahrenheit). And besides, what afternoon isn't complete without a nice cup of coffee?
By the way, the stunning pictures were taken by my good friend Jen. She's an amazing artist and a brilliant photographer with the mind of a genius researcher. You can check out her blog here.
