My Winter Skincare Routine

Hi Lovelies!

It's been one crazy week! With the Polar Vortex hitting us pretty hard over here and work keeping me busy, I really had no time to blog! But I have all of my posts for next week lined up so I am fully prepared for whatever may come in the next week!

That said, I would like to deviate a bit from what I usually post on Sundays - I want to talk about my winter skincare routine. I don't really wear much makeup so instead I try to take care of my skin so I don't have to wear as much. I've been quite lucky to be blessed with good skin. I don't really break out too often and my skin is usually in pretty good shape. However it is a tad sensitive and a bit on the drier side and this is always greatly felt in the winter time. My commute to work this past week was TORTURE because my skin got so dry and the cold wind really wasn't helping. I couldn't feel my face at some points! I found myself relying on my skincare routine more than ever. My usual routine is divided into two parts - morning and night.

Morning:

My morning routine is quite short. I don't use much products because I'm too tired in the morning for anything detailed haha

  1. Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser: I like using this in the morning to brighten my face in the morning. I like that it uses natural ingredients and it's good for my skin!
  2. Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer: I seriously love this moisturizer - it retains moisture for so long, even during the arctic chill!
  3. Simple Revitalizing Eye Cream: I like to swipe this onto my eyes and pat it in gently before I start putting on my makeup - it serves to both brighten my eyes and give them a break from the makeup that I wear
Night:

I tend to spend more time on my skin in the evenings, mostly because I have more time to do so.
  1. Neutrogena Oil-Free Makeup Remover: The first thing I do when I get home is remove all my makeup. To be honest, I don't actually wear much makeup but the little I wear, I don't like having on my face for longer than necessary.
  2. St. Ives Apricot Scrub: After removing my makeup I hop into the shower. I like to let the water steam my face for a few minutes before using my exfoliator. I also only exfoliate about 3 times a week as I find that over-exfoliating dries out my already dry skin even faster.
  3. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser: I LOVE this cleanser - I know there's a lot of hype around it and it's hyped for a reason. It's honestly the only cleanser that has never broken me out. If you've never tried this cleanser, you're missing out - it's amazing! A definite HG product!
  4. Freeman Avocado Clay Mask: Twice a week, I use this clay mask. I like how it feels on my skin and it seriously feels like my face goes through a deep cleaning when I rinse it off.
  5. Rinse Off with Cold Water: I never realized how important it was but you should wash your face with warm water but rinse everything off with cold water! The warm water will open your pores, readying it for the exfoliator and cleanser but the cold water will close it back up to lock everything in
  6. Dickinson's Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner: I'd never really used toner until last November when my friend recommended this to me. I'm SO glad she did - I always manage to catch all the dirt and grime I missed with my cleanser.
  7. Aveeno Positively Radiant Intensive Night Cream: Like toners, I only recently started using night cream. I like that it moisturizes my skin through the night and I don't wake up with a painful, dry feeling in the winter anymore.
So tell me a bit about your skincare routine - do you use any products that I mentioned or are thare any products you recommend? Let me know in the comments down below!

  3. I'm definitely going to consider that night cream! It's something I want to start using regularly because I'm awful at skipping my moisturizer! So bad! I love the tinted moisturizer from the positively radiant line!

  10. Wow, is it me or are those a lot of beauty products? I simply use a washing cream from the pharmacist called Boreade and the day and night creams of JYB. Nice and easy :)

  15. Oh you're so dedicated to your skin. I wish that I was as disciplined. This probably explains why your skin looks freaking perfect!! I usually just buy all my products from one brand (currently using NARS). Not sure if that's out of laziness or a conspiracy theory that products work best together?
