Product Review: Dickinson's Witch-Hazel Toner

Splendid Saturday, lovelies!

I don't consider myself a beauty blogger at all but I know how much I love knowing what kinds of makeup products other people use. After all, if it works for them, it could work for me, right? I know a lot of people feel that way so I wanted to share with you a product I've been loving - My Dickinson's Original Witch-Hazel Toner. When it comes to beauty products, I tend to look at three big things: The packaging, the formula, and the price.

I was never really into using toners until recently but I love how clean and fresh my skin feels after using it. Dickinson's is my first toner and I think I really lucked out because this stuff is amazing! I never knew how much dirt and grime I was leaving on my face because I missed it with my cleanser!

Packaging: I'm usually a big sucker for cute packaging so it may come as a surprise for some of you that I would reach for this at my local drugstore at all - the bottle is nothing extraordinary and there aren't any pretty pictures on it either. There is a picture of sunflowers in the back but it's not special. That said, the bottle is quite efficient and the nozzle stops all potential leakage of fluid. That's good enough for me. 3/5

Formula: I gotta preface this by saying I have an extremely sensitive nose and I can sometimes smell individual ingredients of a dish I am eating. The smell of this toner bothered me so much in the beginning - I can only describe it as similar to tequila (and not in a good way). Despite that, the formula itself is all-natural and worked wonders on my skin. I still notice the smell but it doesn't bother me as much as it used to. I will give it a 4/5

Price: Well I did pick this up at a CVS for $4 - such a steal, especially considering how well it works and how much of it there is in a bottle. Absolutely a 5/5.

I also want to note that I have very dry skin that is perhaps on the more sensitive side of average. I'm not usually acne-prone but I have used products that have made me break out on occasion (though this has been quite rare). If your skin is like mine, you will most likely love this product. Just be sure to use lotion afterwards because it can be a bit drying.

  1. Thanks for posting this review! The product sounds great. I never use a toner (I just never grew up using it, you know?) but now I'm thinking of starting one <3

  2. Wow, I can't believe it was only $4 and it sounds like a great product! I have dry and sensitive skin too so I'll definitely consider it if I ever make a stroll down in the drugstore and find it. However, I'm using Mary Kay's Botanical Effects' toner and I think it works well for me~ there isn't any noticeable scent either! (I like natural or as less odour as possible for my beauty products :P.) But anyway, good review- I love how you evaluated the product through different categories of packaging and price and formula! I'd love to read more of these posts! ^^X

  4. Great review! I've actually never heard of this toner, but I'm so glad you're having amazing results!! And I have very dry skin, too!! Hoping I get the same success as you! I know what you say about the smell... I think with most toners you're going to get that "tequila" smell (and not in a good way, like you say hahah!).. I hold my breath every time I use my toner! I think $4 is amazing and I'm going to look in CVS next time for this.. I like that it's all natural, unlike my current toner. It's a good reason to switch!! Go planet earth!

  5. i have extremely sensitive skin my whole life and 6 months ago, i was struck with incurable rosacea which is a total pain in the ass (pardon my language). i have been trying out Thayers, Alcohol Free Toner, Unscented Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera Formula for 2 weeks, and my skin seems to like it. when come to skincare, i opt for products with natural ingredients, and are alcohol free & fragrance free.

  9. This sounds like a great product and I can't believe it was only 4$. The first time I used a toner I also couldn't believe how much dirt I was leaving on my face.
