Nautical Stripes | Striped Shirt and White Jeans

Brilliant Monday, lovelies!

The sun is out but the air is still a bit chilly so I've been falling back on layering bright clothing. White jeans and a striped shirt are classic but adding red flats and a navy blazer adds just a bit of something extra, don't you think? I actually wore this look to work on casual Friday once and got quite a few compliments. I was never really on board the nautical trend until last summer but now I can't wait to wear more nautical-inspired pieces!

Are you a fan of the nautical trend that comes back every spring and summer?

Marvelous Monday, magnificent readers!

I've been really into the monochromatic look lately. Perhaps it's because the weather is finally starting to clear up (starting being the operative word here) I have been wearing white from head to toe any chance I can. It's so crisp and clean - absolutely perfect for the Spring!

Thanks for reading!

What's in My Beau Bag

| On
3:14 PM
Some of you may remember that I recently made a huge (well, huge for me, anyway) investment purchase on a Kate Spade Beau bag. I actually got the small Beau because after much research I found it'd work better for my lifestyle than the big one (plus with my small frame the big Beau bag seemed to overwhelm me). I wanted a bag that would take me from day to night, work to happy hour, and weekday to weekend. As I get older, I find that I don't have to carry as many things as I used to - no need to lug my laptop around with me all the time anymore (thank goodness!), just a few work and everyday essentials. So, without further ado, allow me to give you a peek inside my Kate Spade Beau bag:

  • Rebecca Minkoff Luma wallet: In my last "What's in My Bag" post, I asked you guys for suggestions on replacing my tired old wallet. Splurged after the holidays and bought myself a fancy designer wallet - much more age-appropriate and the color is very lovely! I can also fit my iPhone in there without stretching it out at all so it doubles a s a clutch sometimes too.
  • Kate Spade Pencil Pouch: I actually use this as a makeup pouch haha - inside, I carry a few basics like lipstick/lipgloss, a Tide stain remover pen, some blotting sheets, lip balm, mirror, and a tampon. I have had much experience with my makeup spilling out or lipstick caps falling off inside my purse so I ALWAYS make sure that they go inside a pouch of some sort to keep the interior of my Beau bag clean. I mean, the lining is SO pretty! It'd be such a shame if it got dirty because I was being careless.
  • Moleskine Planner: My planner goes wherever I go! I often find myself jotting down notes or blog post ideas.
  • Pencil Pouch from Korea: Just like with my makeup, I keep my pens inside a pouch. I can't even begin to describe how disappointed I get when pens (pens are the worst) explode or break inside my new purse (it's always a brand new and expensive purse this happens to, isn't it?).
  • Pinch Provisions Minimergency kit: These things are life-savers! It's always amazing to me how they can get so many items in such a small space! Mine came with 21 things! In case you haven't heard of these, let me give you a list of some of the things I find quite useful that this kit gives me - bandaid, Advil, bobby pins, hair spray, clear nail polish, antacid, nail polish remover wipes, double sided tape, emory board, deodorant, etc. I'm telling you guys, everyone needs one of these in their lives.
  • Lilly Pulitzer Keychain - I use this keychain for my work and house keys. I really like this keychain because it's also a USB drive!
  • iPhone 5S with Kate Spade Case: Can you guys tell I really like Kate Spade? haha I'm actually thinking of replacing this case at the moment. Any suggestions?
  • Lilly Pulitzer Backup iPhone Charger: I sometimes wonder how i lived my life without these. I get a lot of important work emails and during the weekdays I get a bit nervous that I might miss one when my phone runs out of batteries. These have been absolute (phone) life savers!
What did you guys of this edition of "What's in My Bag?"

Closet Strategy: Skorts

12:00 PM
I'm sure you all remember how excited I was to get these fabulous skorts from Zara last year. However I noticed that some people found them to be a style challenge, especially in the colder months. The thing is though, they're actually quite versatile especially in white. Here are some looks I came up with centered around my skorts:

Outfit 1: Monochromatic

I've seen these skorts worn in monochromatic outfits on other fashion blogs and it looked absolutely divine. I say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! In this case, the monochromatic look works with these skorts so it's safe to say that's a look to try. I did, however, add a coral clutch to the outfit to give it a pop of color. I think this is a great look for happy hour with friends.

Top: American Eagle top, Forever 21 blazer
Shoes: Michael Kors Caroline pumps

Outfit 2: Informal

I wanted to dress the skorts down a bit with this look. While this piece is technically shorts, the look of the skirt in the front makes them look somewhat formal so I wanted to play that down with this loose-fitting dolman top. Paired with my Chucks, I'd say this is a great downtown look perfect for sightseeing.

Top: Forever 21 dolman top
Accessories: Forever 21satchel, Icing wayfarers, Forever 21studs
Shoes: Converse lo-tops

Outfit 3: In-betweener

This look is for things in between formal and casual - perhaps a casual Friday or a girls night? I paired my skorts with this bright red top and added silver and nude toned accessories to the mix to keep the focus on the red.

Top: Forever 21 sweater
Accessories: Nine West bag, Coach scarf, Vintage pearl studs
Shoes: Chinese Laundry wedges

What do you guys think? Would you give skorts a try?

Dressed Up with Nowhere to Go | Little White Dress and Black Clutch

Splendid Monday, lovelies!

Ever just buy a dress on an impulse because it looked gorgeous in the store and you realize that you have no where to wear it to? Well that's what's happening with this dress. I think it looks beautiful and the silhouette is so flattering but I honestly don't know where to wear it! Luckily, this blog documents my outfits but after that... well, not sure. I was thinking maybe a night out, but I don't go to bars swanky enough where this dress would be appropriate haha. Hmm, I guess I'll just have to hold onto it until the perfect moment arrives.

Any suggestions on where I should wear this?

Eager to Please | Peplum Top and Polka Dot Pants

Lovely Wednesday!

I was recently charged with the task of training a new intern that just started with us last week. It's a bit of an awkward situation, to be honest. The guy is actually five years older than me and I'm technically his "boss." I've never really been in charge of anyone older than me and I feel a bit weird telling him what to do but he seems perfectly happy to follow directions. That's where I got the title of my post from - he's very eager to please. I've definitely seen interns who were difficult to work with (luckily I never had to deal with them) so I'm quite glad we got such an agreeable person on our staff - even if he's older than me haha.

What are some of your interns/internship experiences?
