Goals for 2015

Happy 2015 everyone! I wish you all a wonderful new year!

I got the idea to do a blog post on some of the goals I have for 2015 from Carly at The College Prep. She made a list of goals (not resolutions, mind you) for 2013. I want to have a bit more direction this year than I did last year - plus, I think I function better when I have a goal that I'm working towards. I also want to share my goals with you all as well so you guys can help me stay on track!

January: Spending - I think this is a great one to start with because this is something I'm sure a lot of bloggers struggle with. I want to keep my finances in check and keep my spending to a minimum. I sometimes find myself buying things just to wear for the blog but I know I probably won't wear outside of it. I want to take cost-per-wear into account a lot more.
February: (Self) Love - I want to use the month of love to learn more about myself. I think my life has always been so busy and trying to keep up with a rapidly changing environment so I want to spend some time getting to know myself better and being comfortable in my own skin.
March: Exploration and Travel - I used to be quite a jet-setter but I haven't had a real vacation in a while. For March, I want to set aside some time to explore or do some traveling. Even if I can't get time off from work, there's lots of places in DC I haven't seen. I live by the St. Augustine quote, "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page." This will hopefully be the anthem of my March.
April: Organization and Diligence - I don't know why I've slacked so much on organizing but I can't help but feel I've gotten pretty sloppy this year. I also know I've been doing a lot of things last minute and it all comes down to my lack of prioritizing and organizing. I'm really going to work on this.
May: Health and Exercise - I wish I could sit here and say that I'm a gym rat but I'm not - far from it, in fact. I try to run in the summer and spring when the weather is warm but not so much during the rest of the year. That said, I'm still scheduling my "fitness" month for May so I'm not too cold haha. I found out about Pop Pilates from this awesome Youtuber, Blogilates and I think I'm gonna do a lot of this throughout the year!
June: Creativity - I sometimes find myself hitting a rut in terms of creativity. During the month of June I want to challenge myself and try to come up with fresh style posts and perhaps a DIY or two?
July: Learning - I want to try to learn a new skill this month. I'm not sure what yet but I'm thinking of either taking a photography class or getting serious about learning html coding. Stay tuned!
August: Saying 'Yes' - I think this year I was pretty bad about saying 'yes' to more outings. As I get older, I get more cautious about getting involved with activities or I get too tired when I stay out with friends for too long so I just decline a lot of invitations and just stay in. I'm going to really work to change this because I think it's more important to have fun things to do as you get older.
September: Friendship and Relationships - This sort of goes hand-in-hand with my August goal but I want to really hone my friendships and my relationships with some of the important people in my life. As I get older, I realize that I have fewer friends I can truly count on and bear my heart and soul to simply because we all trow apart. I want to work on appreciating my loved ones this month.
October: Reading - The one thing I can always count on is that I have at least six books on my bedside table that I plan on 'reading later.' I don't always get around to it because I find myself way too busy or tired. I'm going to make it a habit of reading at least a chapter or two of a book every night.
November: Giving Thanks - Since Thanksgiving is in November, I thought it would be a good time to reflect on all of my blessings. I think it's easy to forget how much we actually have going for us unless we're reminded to contemplate it so I'll dedicate this month to doing just that.
December: Generosity - The holiday season is always about giving and receiving so I'll focus more on giving. Giving back, in particular. I used to be pretty good with my volunteer work but the past year that pretty much came to a halt. I'm gonna really try to go out of my way to start volunteering again.

Are you guys making any New Years Resolutions or goals this year?

  6. I love how you broke it up into months. It's like having new resolutions each month (which is something I plan to do all the time, because I hate how I lose motivation and have to restart every Jan 1st to no avail).

    Another Beautiful Thing

  14. Dear Deborah, although I'm normally not a huge fan of New Year's resolutions I have to admit that your list has won me! This is the best resolution list I ever had read and some of the points caught really my attention. And as I know that you are not only reliable but also hard working I'm pretty sure you will reach what you listed here.

    Happy New Year!
