A Mile in My Shoes: Weekend

Today I wanted to write a post on how I spend my weekends. I love reading these kinds of posts because I find it so interesting how people spend their typical days off.

6:30 AM: Wake up, have some coffee with breakfast, watch the news while I read the paper and do some research in my industry. I realize I'm ridiculous for getting up so early on a Saturday morning but I'm a morning person.

7:30 AM: Get cleaned up and dressed for the day. I made plans to meet my friend Carly for brunch downtown and we were in for an unseasonably warm day. I kept that in mind when picking out my outfit.

9:15 AM: I had a few errands to run before meeting my friend. Mostly just dropping a few packages off at the post office, getting some financial stuff out of the way, etc.
10:45 PM: I made my way to Gallery Place (the Chinatown Stop). I was a bit early so I walked around the city for a bit and did some window shopping before I got to my destination on K st.

11:15 PM: Brunch with Carly at Mandu's! It's a Korean-fusion restaurant downtown (I highly recommend it for those planning a trip to DC). I got a peach sojutini and split a brunch platter with my friend. Delicious!
We also got a cup of coffee afterwards (I'm an addict!)

2:00 PM: Get home and start blogging. Usually this consists of taking pictures for posts, writing down ideas, responding to comments, and visiting other blogs.
3:30 PM: Do some pilates. I usually do this in the morning on week days but since I have today off, I like to take things a bit slower. I watch Blogilates on Youtube. If you haven't heard of her, I highly recommend it!

4:00 PM: Catch up on some work. I mostly just check my work emails so I'm not overwhelmed by them when I get back to the office. I usually get about 40-50 emails a day at work. It's a lot and I always have to devote a portion of my time to just answering emails.
5:00 PM: Make some dinner and eat. I LOVE to cook and I especially like to try new recipes on my off days when I have more time to experiment. I actually just made pizza from scratch. Tomato and basil - yum! I'm also really OCD about leaving dishes unwashed so I always immediately clean it up after I eat.
6:30 PM: Shower time! I also go through my skincare routine at this time.
7:00 PM: I catch up on my shows from the night before while I blog again. At this point, I add finishing touches to the posts I have lined up and schedule them to go out during the week. I also respond to comments and visit blogs again. You guys are constantly on my mind :]
9:00 PM: I'm trying to get better at shutting down after 9. I like to just use this time to read or do anything non-tech related for the next hour or so. I'm currently reading A Storm of Swords by George RR Martin. When I get tired I go to sleep. I know that a 10 PM bedtime is super early but I'm an old person with a job - I need my sleep haha.

What do your days off look like? Do you spend them doing exciting things or do you use them for practical purposes? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Great post, your life seems to be pretty organized ! I love it ! Mine isn't and here in Italy we have dinner late, I have it at about 9 pm and then spend the rest of the evening on my blog until past midnight, but I should reschedule this cause I lack sleep ! Kisses

  2. Yay for brunch!
And you DO get up early for a weekend! But being a morning person makes sense- I wish I were more of a morning person, that's for sure. Getting up is a STRUGGLE for me, ha. :)

  3. Your weekend sounds similar to mine! I feel a little silly crawling in to bed before 10 pm on a weekend, but my body wants what my body wants!

  4. Dear Deborah, wow, I'm impressed, you get even on the weekends really early! I have to admit that I really like it to sleep and it belongs to my personal luxury to sleep late on the weekends :) And your day is very well structured what in my opinion definitely makes sense. I love it btw also to cook and what you wore that day.

  5. What a great post! It was fun to read about your day off! I am jealous that you are able to that easily be a morning person. If I'm waking up at 6:30am I have to set alarms and force everything. When I do, I'm really happy that I did. I hate sleeping in!! lol. Can't have it all. Brunch with Carly looked like a lot of fun! And I LOVE Blogilates! Casey Ho is such a fun person!

  6. 1. This sounds like the perfect weekend day! 2. I miss Sherlock so much and want that as my screenlock too now :) 3. I've never been to Mandu but it's on my list of places to try! I've never had Korean food so I haven't been in a huge hurry to try it just in case I don't care for it, but knowing someone who recommends it makes me want to try it even more. That coffee looks so good!

  11. Really interesting post! I can't believe you get up and go to bed so early on your day off. But that's a good habit. I wish I could do it too :)
