Korea

This March, I will be traveling to South Korea to visit my family. I was born and raised in the US (and culturally, I'm pretty American) but my parents are originally from Korea and my relatives are still there. I used to visit a lot when I was a child but we stopped going as often when school and life got in the way. In fact, the last time I was in Korea was when I was 13 years old (I'm now in my mid-twenties).
Why am I going back? Well to be honest my grandmother recently suffered a stroke. She's okay now and mostly recovered but it made me realize that I don't know how much time she's got left. We are all certainly not getting younger and our time together may be limited. I really wanted to go and see her and make sure that when it's her time to go (whenever that may be), she will go with some good memories of spending time with her first granddaughter (me).
Of course, I'll be doing lots of sight-seeing as well - it's my first time back in over ten years! I'm sure a lot has changed and I'd like to get to know my roots a bit better!

  2. I bet you can't wait to see her and the rest of your family, that is such a long time! I feel your pain though, my mums side of the family live in New Zealand so I never see them. Distance definitely sucks. I'm glad your grandma has recovered and am looking forward to the travel posts! x

I hope you'll share pics on Insta! Safe travels :)
