Resolution Update: Organization

This month I wanted to focus on getting more organized.
I used to be one of those people who was so on-top of things but I found myself stressing out over minute details that weren't that important so I resolved to relax a bit. Well, I did that a little too well so I think I need to find a balance between easing up and being organized. Here are a few things I learned along the way:

  • Getting up earlier can make all the difference: I'm an early riser by nature so waking up was always easy for me. The problem is that even though I'm awake, I don't really do anything productive with that time. I started actually getting out of bed and creating a to-do list of things I should attempt to accomplish throughout the day to make use of that time I'm up. I noticed once I had an idea of what I should focus on, it makes the rest of my day more goal-oriented.
  • Make that bed: Making my bed isn't the biggest priority for me - if I don't have time in the morning, it's no big deal. BUT I read an article that making your bed and getting one thing accomplished can really set the tone for the rest of your day. I started trying it and I think it has made a difference.
  • Give yourself a break but ONLY when you feel you deserve it: I always find taking breaks to be important but sometimes these breaks get distracting. I had to discipline myself to taking more focused breaks instead of "in the middle of a big project and I'm tired" kind of breaks. When you truly deserve a break, the break will seem sweeter.

  5. LOL I had/have the same problem. I used to be on top of things and decided I needed a little "relax".. And whoops!! Two years later and I'm still relaxing. I agree that getting up early can really make a difference. One of my biggest struggles is that I work from home and a lot of my work can be done without me looking "presentable". So even when I wake up early, I'm like.. Pants? NAAAh.

I love the logic behind the bed thing, thank you for sharing. I didn't think it could be that simple but I will give it a try.. It's worth a shot, right!?

Thanks for the great pointers/ideas/help!! Love your photo too, looks like quite the organized set up you've got!!
    Much LOVE!!!
