Resolution Update: Organization

This month I wanted to focus on getting more organized.
I used to be one of those people who was so on-top of things but I found myself stressing out over minute details that weren't that important so I resolved to relax a bit. Well, I did that a little too well so I think I need to find a balance between easing up and being organized. Here are a few things I learned along the way:

  • Getting up earlier can make all the difference: I'm an early riser by nature so waking up was always easy for me. The problem is that even though I'm awake, I don't really do anything productive with that time. I started actually getting out of bed and creating a to-do list of things I should attempt to accomplish throughout the day to make use of that time I'm up. I noticed once I had an idea of what I should focus on, it makes the rest of my day more goal-oriented.
  • Make that bed: Making my bed isn't the biggest priority for me - if I don't have time in the morning, it's no big deal. BUT I read an article that making your bed and getting one thing accomplished can really set the tone for the rest of your day. I started trying it and I think it has made a difference.
  • Give yourself a break but ONLY when you feel you deserve it: I always find taking breaks to be important but sometimes these breaks get distracting. I had to discipline myself to taking more focused breaks instead of "in the middle of a big project and I'm tired" kind of breaks. When you truly deserve a break, the break will seem sweeter.
Thanks for reading!

  1. I didn't knew about the thing with the bed done... though since I was a kid until now, it's the first thing I do every morning!

  2. that is so true...when we feel that we deserve the break than it is much sweater.
great tips for getting organized and being more productive!

  3. Interesting Post ,great Tips! i like the one with the bed :)

  4. The third one.... the worst for me.
Whenever I feel sooo tired and I need a little break that I feel I deserved and then I meet YouTube... and BAM! 8 hours later I realized I should continue my work. Aweful right? xD

  5. LOL I had/have the same problem. I used to be on top of things and decided I needed a little "relax".. And whoops!! Two years later and I'm still relaxing. I agree that getting up early can really make a difference. One of my biggest struggles is that I work from home and a lot of my work can be done without me looking "presentable". So even when I wake up early, I'm like.. Pants? NAAAh.

I love the logic behind the bed thing, thank you for sharing. I didn't think it could be that simple but I will give it a try.. It's worth a shot, right!?

Thanks for the great pointers/ideas/help!! Love your photo too, looks like quite the organized set up you've got!!
    Much LOVE!!!

  6. These are really great tips! I JUST started doing the bed making thing too...and it really does set a precedent for the whole day. Also can I just say your handwriting is amazing...I feel more organized just looking at that picture haha ;]

Thank you for your comments! I read every single one :]
