A Mile in My Shoes: Work Day

I liked the responses I got from my last "Mile in My Shoes" post. I talked about how I spent a weekend day but this time I wanted to share with you guys what a typical work day looks like for me. To be honest, my work days aren't usually too interesting. Unless you find US politics and policy fascinating like I do, a typical weekday in my shoes won't be terribly fun. I cut out some of the 'boring' stuff and came up with this little schedule:

5:00am - Wake up and start the day with a quick trip to the gym. On nice days in the Spring and Summer I run outside but since the weather is colder and it's quite dark at this hour, I've been taking advantage of the treadmill in my building.

6:00am - Shower, get dressed, and figure out my hair and makeup situation. This is usually dependent on the weather. The forecast called for a sunny but cool afternoon so I dressed accordingly with my Forever 21 sweater and my recent acquisition, a LOFT sweater skirt that I got on sale. As for makeup, just going to go for the usual routine (I will do a post on this soon).
6:45am - Clean up my room/make my bed - I love coming back to a clean home so I try to get it out of the way in the morning
7:00am - Breakfast and news briefs. I catch up on some of my emails and figure out what's going on in the world today. A huge part of my job involves knowing what's happening in the political scene so I like starting my days prepared. I also took some marinated chicken I froze the night before and dumped it into my slow cooker. I'm planning a post on the recipe soon, but is that something you guys would like to see?
8:30am to 5:00 pm - work, work, work! I work in the political scene so my day at the office gets intense sometimes. I'll spare you guys the details though :]
5:00pm - Happy hour with my coworkers and friends! This particular evening I went to Fiola's on Pennsylvania Ave
6:30pm - Trek home
6:45pm - Cook dinner, answer some emails and write a few blog posts. For dinner I ate the chicken I had in my slow cooker. Yum!
8:30pm - Catch up on my TV shows while I write even more blog posts (you guys are constantly on my mind). Right now I've been really into Brooklyn Nine-Nine. If you guys liked Parks and Recreation, you would like this show because it's by the same creators, I believe. I highly recommend this to you.
9:45pm - I brush my teeth and wash my face and go through my evening beauty routine. How cute is this TonyMoly face lotion packaging?? It smells like real bananas too!
10:00pm - I pick out an outfit to wear tomorrow. I find that it's quite comforting knowing you have one less thing to worry about in the morning when your past self already picked out a fab outfit for your future self :)
10:15pm - crawl into bed with my book. I'm currently reading The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith, which is the pen-name of JK Rowling. It's the sequel to A Cuckoo's Calling and it's been pretty good so far. I think I'll do a review on this as well!

What does your typical day look like?
