Kitchen Diaries: Matcha Oreos

After stuffing my face with Thanksgiving food, my mind starts to look forward to the holidays. I think I associate cookies and such with Christmas due to leaving a log of different kinds for Santa growing up. That's why when I found this green tea Oreo recipe I knew I had to try it and then share it! Since being forced to cut back on coffee, I've experimented with matcha - a very strong green tea powder. I've made a few batches of these and LOVE eating them with milk and (decaf) coffee!

Matcha Oreos
  • 1 stick Unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp Matcha powder
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 box Famous Chocolate Wafers
1. Melt the butter and mix with the powdered sugar until you get a light consistency.2. Add cornstarch and matcha powder (make sure it's sifted) and vanilla extract and mix until everything is even. 3. Place the mixture into a Ziploc bag or piping tube if you have one. For the Ziploc method, cut a 1/2 inch hole from the corner of the bag.4. Lay out the Famous Chocolate Wafers with the rough side facing up. Pipe in about 1 and a half inch circle of matcha frosting on the wafer.5. Get a second wafer and press slowly on top of the first wafer with frosting, making sure to apply even pressure so the frosting will distribute evenly.
