Wedding Guest Essentials | One Shoulder Dress and Strappy Nude Heels

Dress: ASOS || Accessories: Clutch from Amazon (from this post - similar here), Forever 21 necklace (similar here), NYX matte lip cream in 'Milan' || Shoes: Forever 21 (similar here)

I had the pleasure of attending a wedding two weeks ago and it occurred to me that we're really approaching wedding season now. I only have two weddings to attend this year but every year, the number of my friends getting married or engaged gets higher (the joys of getting older). I figure some of you are in the same boat so here are some tips on what to keep handy when you are a wedding guest:
  1. Blotting sheets: I can't even begin to tell you how necessary blotting sheets are - especially in the spring and summer! I know they're better for people with oily skin but they're great for removing sweat off of people with dry skin without taking your makeup off. I love using NYX's Tea Tree Blotting paper - it leaves my skin feeling so refreshed!
  2. Lipstick: This goes without saying but if you're wearing a lip product that you need to reapply ever once in a while, bring it with you.
  3. Nail polish: Chipped nails is a huge pet peeve of mine so I always make sure to carry an extra bottle of whatever shade I'm wearing in case of chips.
  4. Bobby pins: I've learned a while back that hair emergencies are a part of life - especially during big events where there are photographers everywhere. Having a few bobby pins on hand can most certainly lessen the damage.
  5. Concealer: Outdoor summer weddings = melted foundation and makeup. After it happened to me once, I was determined to always have some concealer around so I can fix up any makeup mishaps.
  6. Comfy shoes: While I love the heels I'm wearing here, I haven't had time to break them in and I ended up having to sit down for a few dances. It's a rookie mistake. I saw a few people bringing a pair of flats to dance in and I think it's a great idea. At the very least make sure you line your shoes with soft insoles so they don't have to ache so much.
  7. Tissues: If you're weepy at weddings, keep a small packet handy. Trust me.
  8. Stain remover pen: Perfect for the accident-prone (like myself). A Tide mini stain remover pen will fit in a small clutch without taking much space while providing insurance for any spillage mishaps.
  9. Phone/camera: For the memories!

  2. Wow, you looked gorgeous! The shape of the dress is super flattering and I really like your necklace. Blotting sheets are a good idea, I wouldn't have thought about it but it's a lot more practical than having a powder and a brush! I would always remember to take my lipstick of course, and comfy flats for the party :)

  9. Hi, thank you for your comment on my blog. This is such a pretty colour, you wear it well.
Just last year I attended about six weddings and this year, its been two so far ! I love to dress up for these and like you always have blotting sheets, the lipstick I am wearing and my phone. I cannot fit anything else in my tiny bag so, that's about it. Here most weddings have an area in the ladies' room that has perfumes, bobby pins, clear nail varnish, nail files, sewing materials and such, so it makes lives easier.
