Last weekend, I spent Memorial Day in Northern California, near Mount Shasta. Brian's brother lives up there and as I hadn't met him nor his wife yet, we decided to take a trip west. McCloud was such a lovely town! We stayed at a rental cottage that was located right next to the Sacramento River and the whole area was so lush and beautiful. Apparently, this is where all the rainfall in California is - compared to the golden dry grass that is commonly seen in the rest of California, McCloud (and Siskyou County in general) was very green.
We stopped by the Mushroom Festival in McCloud and I happened to see this very cute hotel. We took a few pictures before going back to our group. This outfit is pretty much my west coast travel uniform (as evidenced by the last time I wore this exact look in Portland). It was an extremely hot day (temperatures in the 90s) but it was very dry. I'm used to a swampy kind of hot - 90 degree weather with the humidity at 60% kind of thing. This dry heat was much preferable because I was at least able to escape the heat simply by going in the shade. If only it were that easy on the east coast...

  1. The green sandals definitely spice up this outfit! I love how bold that move is, and it totally works for a casual summer outfit like this one.

    Much love,

  2. It must be so lovely to have family to visit in another part of the country, hope you had fun meeting them! I'd kill for some dry heat every now and then. It is quite muggy here in Cornwall at the moment, though nothing like what you're used to I imagine!
