Feelin' Hot Hot Hot | One Shoulder Scallops and High Waisted Shorts

I fell in love with Marysia's scalloped swimwear when I first saw bloggers wearing them. That said, I really couldn't justify the price - I don't go swimming enough to pay $200+ on a swimsuit. When I saw a very similar looking swimsuit on Zaful, I immediately snatched it up. I paid around $12 for it (it was on sale)! Unfortunately the price has gone up to $21.49 but it's still considerably more affordable than $200
When it comes to Chinese wholesale websites, you always have to be careful. Sizing is often really different (so you always have to check their sizing guide) and in terms of quality, I generally abide by the rule, you get what you pay for.
I had a few issues with their delivery. It took over a month to arrive because they had ran out and was in the process of restocking (but they should have put that on the website). Although their customer service was very helpful in getting it expedited to me, I'm lucky that I ordered this swimsuit several months before heading to Hawaii otherwise it may not have arrived on time. I only took this precaution because websites like these do have a reputation for slow shipping times and I wanted to take advantage of the sale before I moved to a new apartment.
Other than shipping, I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the swimsuit! The material is heavy (not flimsy) and I love how it looked when I put it on. The bottoms are a tad snug but I didn't find it uncomfortable. The top has padding (so no need to worry about nipple emergencies) but I do wish they had sewn it on. I did that myself though so it was fine. For reference, my measurements are 32-24-34 and I got a size small.
We took these photos at sunrise at the Kauai Beach Resort that we stayed in the first night we were there (don't worry, my travel diary will be up later this week). We were jet-lagged so getting up early was not a problem at all. I really liked the way these shorts looked paired with my asymmetrical top.
While this swimsuit is one of my new favorites, it gave me the oddest looking tan lines! I missed the back of my shoulders on our first beach day when applying sunblock while wearing this and I got sunburned. The next morning I had a dark arm with scallops on my shoulders making me look like someone had stitched on another person's arm on my body! I wore other swimsuits to sort of even out my tan but that is certainly something to look out for when wearing a suit like this.
Still, I got tons of compliments on my swimsuit and I felt good! Uneven tan lines are a small price to pay for self-esteem, I think.

  1. This swimsuit is so adorable on you!! I feel you with ordering on Chinese wholesale sites – I've ordered things on DressLily, Romwe, and SheIn, and most things I've only been able to wear once or not at all. PS did you get a new camera/lens? Your photo game has been extra on point lately!
