I went to a wedding recently that had an unconventional dress code. According to the invitation, we were to wear "cocktail attire with an outdoor flair." I must admit, I was a bit confused and my first instinct was to run to a website to buy something for it. Before I had a chance to, Brian saw this dress hanging in my closet and told me he "really liked this dress." I suppose it is cocktail attire and depending on the shoes I wear, it could be styled to have an outdoor flair so I was sold. I also realized the wedding would be in a campsite in upstate New York, giving me a bit more context of what kind of outfit would be expected of me. I grabbed my comfy sandals with a block heel and I was ready to hit that dance floor! See, you don't always have to break the bank and buy new things to look great!

I had a great time at the wedding! I'm normally not one to go camping (willingly) but we stayed in these cabins that had running water, electrical outlets and soft beds so I was sold - I'm not that high maintenance! The wedding itself was really sweet! The groom is an opera singer and all of his friends and groomsmen are all very musical. We got an awesome rendition of "Purple Rain" and the band played wonderfully. I love weddings in general and this one was no exception!

  1. This is such a lovely wedding outfit! We often tend to go and buy new clothes for specific occasions, but I'm sure that by looking in our closets, most of the time we'll find something that works! The weddings sounded like so much fun, this is camping I'd totally do :P

  2. I can't say I have ever heard of a dress code like that one but I do think you nailed it! Truly a beautiful dress and it is so much better as you already had it in your closet! Love the shoes too!
