My Skincare Products Updates

Last year, I wrote a post on my skincare routine that consisted of a ten-step process. For the most part, I still have the same routine, albeit I use a scaled down version on nights I'm too tired to bother (more on that another time). I have, however, updated a couple products and changed up some of the things I use. I like to think that my skincare routine is constantly evolving to match my evolving skin. I want to share some of the new things that work for me:

I used to use St. Ives Apricot Scrub as my primary exfoliator. I know this product is a big hit or miss with a lot of people but for me I actually really loved it. I have incredibly dry skin and the graininess of the scrub felt really good to me on my skin. I went to an Origins event and was gifted a sample of their Modern Frictions Nature's Gentle Dermabrasion and fell head over heals in love. While definitely not as grainy as the St. Ives, the small microbeads do such an amazing job without irritating my skin and moisturizing along the way. It really is gentle and not at all sand-like. If you hate St. Ives' exfoliators, I do recommend this Origins dermabrasion.

Night Cream

I raved about this TonyMoly Banana Sleeping Pack and don't get me wrong, I still love this. At the same Origins event I got my new exfoliator at, I also bought their Origins High-Potency Night-a-Mins cream on the recommendation of one of the staff. It's done WONDERS for my skin and it really helped soften my skin overall. I really do recommend both but I am glad for a new product in my routine.

Day Moisturizer

I hesitated to veer too much outside of my Aveeno's Positively Radiant Active Naturals Daily Moisturizer (that is a very long name) because for the longest time I was convinced it was the only affordable moisturizer that wouldn't break me out. My eczema got quite out of control and this just wasn't cutting it anymore. I switched to First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream after reading reviews from people who also dealt with eczema or extreme dry, rough patches on their skin. I've been using it for the past year and I am never going back! It's seriously the best and I recommend it for everyone!

Night Emulsion

Skinfood Peach Sake Emulsion used to be my jam but I noticed it was a bit drying - something I definitely don't need for my already eczema prone skin. I recommend it still for those who have oily skin (I've read so many reviews from people with oily skin saying it's their holy grail moisturizer) but as for me, I've now fully converted to the Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream because it makes my skin feel amazing! It's perfect for those with dry skin like me so if you're looking for something that will give you a bit more hydration for the Fall and Winter, you should definitely check this out.
What are some of your favorite skincare products?

  1. First Aid Beauty's products are actually amazing!! I've been using Too Cool for School's egg mousse cleanser forever and I love it!

  2. I'm big on the Aveeno myself, but I may need to try your new choice!
    xo Annie
    New England Romance

  3. Oh shame you weren't happy with the Aveeno as I've heard great things about it! I really do need to switch up my routine, my current one isn't the best but after a bad experience recently with a product messing up my skin I'm wary of changing anything...I'm waiting for warmer weather when my dry skin problems usually resolve!

Hope you are having a great weekend :)
