Product Review: Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau So Decadent Perfume

Disclosure: I received complimentary press samples products or services for this post. As always, all opinions are my own. I only ever accept products I truly love or believe in.

I have an incredibly sensitive nose that I consider both a blessing and a curse. I can smell food in the break room of my office from a mile away (blessing) but I'm very susceptible to strong perfume scents as well (curse). It's no surprise that I tend to gravitate away from most perfumes because I can't really stand the scent. If I do get perfume, I go for more fruity scents but I'm trying to get better about it as that tends to be more youthful (which I'm unfortunately starting to age away from).

I received this sample of Marc Jacobs Decadence Eau So Decadent perfume from Influenster and it broke me out of my citrus perfume rut. Here are my thoughts:

The packaging of the sample is shaped like a handbag. How cute is that?? I know that the full-sized bottle is also purse-shaped which I think is super adorable and creative which would most certainly make me take a look at it in the store. For the sample, at least, it didn't come with spray at the top, just a hole for the perfume to come out of which I found made for difficult application. That's probably the only flaw with it (so sample makers, take note!)

I think I'm going to start really looking outside my usual comfort zone when it comes to perfumes because this was amazing! The scent has a perfect blend of musky, floral, and citrus notes that's not candy store-esque, funeral home-like, nor old ladyish. It has been perfect for the holidays! In fact, a friend recently complimented me on the fragrance when I went to a Christmas party recently and it totally made my day!

While I received this product for reviewing purposes, this retails for $87 dollars. As far as perfumes go, it's definitely more high-end (it is Marc Jacobs after all) but I personally am not a huge fragrance person so I'm not sure I would pay full price for it, as much as I love it. I think if I could get it on sale or at a deal, it would be much more in my comfortable range of what I would like to spend on perfumes, if that makes sense? That said, a good friend of mine regularly spends over $100 on perfumes and she thinks this is perfectly reasonable for a high-end perfume and after trying my sample out for herself, she forked over the $87 for her own bottle so to each her own.

Have you tried this perfume? What are your thoughts?

  2. This looks like it'll make you smell fancy lol! Great review - as a person who can't smell it always appreciate good perfume reviews.
