Recent Sephora Haul and First Impressions

I did a mini haul video on Instagram Stories a while back but I wanted to do a more in-depth post on some of the products I recently got from Sephora.

Haul videos and posts are not things I really like to do because there's always kind of an undercurrent of privilege and shameless consumerism involved. I know it's weird for a blogger to talk about these things but I always try to remain conscious of the costs of everything I buy and I tend not to go on a big spending binge in my personal life to begin with. Not to say I have anything against anyone who does haul videos regularly - you do you! I think I'm just overly sensitive about such things. I don't ever want to come off like I'm bragging. Most haul videos I've seen don't come off braggy but I'm always weary of my tone and the way I come across here. All this to say, I'm just a cautious writer and I'm trying to combat negative stereotypes about bloggers, just like everyone else.

That said, I got a couple of questions regarding my first impressions of some of these products so I will warn you guys this is more of a small haul with more samples than products purchased.

  • First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream: This lotion is my favorite and I've already been through 5 tubs of these! I get this pack of two for $20 and I think it's a great deal! This lotion ins extremely hydrating and it helps so much with my eczema. My friend told me about a hack she discovered - you can add a few drops of serum into this lotion and create a customized moisturizer for your needs!
  • Farmacy Dew It All Total Eye Cream: I've been in the market for a good eye cream and a few people on Instagram suggested this product. Farmacy is a brand I've been interested in ever since I was introduced to it by Sharmili so I picked this right up. So far, I find it really hydrating but I think I need to use it for longer to see real results.
  • Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Face Exfoliant: I heard a LOT of great things about this exfoliator so I thought I would give it a try. So far I am surprised by how much I like the clay texture. The grains feel like a really soft sand, similar to the beach in Waimea, Hawaii. I really love it right now and it's not to abrasive on my sensitive, dry skin.
  • Sachjuan Hair Repair: My hair is pretty easy to maintain for the most part so I don't really splurge all too much on hair products. I currently use shampoo and conditioner from Whole Foods (which is actually pretty good quality). That said, I thought that if I were to switch up my hair care routine and add something extra, I could try it out with this trial-size Sachajuan Hair Repair. I've used it only twice but I honestly don't see a real difference in my hair. I think I'm going to try and use it up before I form any real opinion on it. If you do want to try it, it's free if you spend over $50 or you can buy the full size for $33.
  • Farmacy Honey Savior All-in-One Skin Repair Salve: I was drawn to this sample because I read the reviews that said it was great for people with very dry skin. As someone living with eczema, this sounded right up my alley!
  • Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel: I love the idea of Drunk Elephant products but I just can't justify the price tag without at least trying it out first. I picked up this sample and if I like it, I may buy the full size. Also, have you noticed all of the items I like have to do with intense hydration?
  • Fresh Rose Face Mask: I've already used this and I am making plans to purchase the full size. It makes my skin feel so hydrated and refreshed! The only drawback is that it has kind of a funky smell I can't really describe. It doesn't smell like roses (ironically) and it was kind of off-putting for me at first. Still, you can't beat the way this mask made my skin feel!
Have you tried any of these products? Do you recommend other skincare products? Let me know in the comments!

  4. This is such a helpful review! And FYI I feel the same as you about hauls and especially try-on sessions on Instagram (it's why I rarely do them, only for like really big sales!). I don't want people to think all I do is shop shop shop and have irresponsible money habits!! So I appreciate your honest perspective here :)

  13. I really need to try the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream especially since I am such a fan of their cleanser and used to live by their Skin Rescue Pads. Also isn't that Fresh mask amazing? So hydrating and calming, I would kill to have it back in my life again. I've been dying to try Drunk Elephant skincare and my friend who works at Sephora raves about it all of the time, but the price tag is SO steep that I'm hesitant.

  14. That fresh rose face mask is one of my favorite things that Sephora sells! It smells amazing, feels totally great on your skin, and it has real rose petals in it which is so awesome! You're going to love it!
