Coffee Chat Vol. 7

I've been pretty MIA this week as I had a huge work conference I was working at! We held it at the DC Convention Center where we had almost 6000 attendees. I had to work both Saturday and Sunday (on top of the fact that we didn't get President's Day off because of  this conference) I've been non-stop since last Monday (the 19th). The conference ended on Wednesday night and I've been in recovery mode since. I started feeling a sore throat coming on since Monday and I pretty much lost my voice on Tuesday since I didn't have time in between to call in sick - I'm kind of a mess at the moment! I've been drinking a LOT of tea in the meantime and it's been helping.

Now that I've got that out of the way (and you know now where I've been for the past week), here are a few things that manged to catch my eye.

I've had my share of bad roommate experiences in college but this story takes the cake! Every scenario sounds like my absolute worst nightmare! I saw so many comments saying that this was why they lived alone but if you live in a big city like NYC, Philadelphia, and DC, a roommate is almost necessary because rent is SO expensive (in DC, average rent for a one bedroom apartment is $2500 if you're lucky and a studio is sometimes even more expensive!) I'm just glad I (hopefully) won't have to deal with that whole process of finding roommates again because of Brian!

TWO || Marvel's Jessica Jones Season 2
Did you guys watch Jessica Jones on Netflix? If so, I was SO excited to hear that they're finally going to release the second season on March 8th! I made Brian watch it with me and he thoroughly enjoyed it. I think another Marvel show/movie with a female lead is long overdue!

THREE || Almond Butter Waffles
How delicious do these almond butter waffles look?? Best of all, it's grain-free! So healthy, so yuimmy! What more could you ask for in a breakfast food?

FOUR || Use These Prompts if you Need Help Journaling
Surprise, surprise - I use my bullet journaling to... well, journal! A question I've been getting a lot lately is what to even write about. Well, Lifehacker is here to get you started!

FIVE || Cropped Ruffle Sweater
I recently got this sweater and it's so cute! I love the cropped but oversized silhouette! It's prefect with a pair of high waisted pants and I can see it becoming a staple for Spring.

SIX || How to Roll Your Sleeves
Sometimes I find sleeve-rolling to be an art. How do you do it in such a way that looks chic and effortless? Especially when you're wearing layers?? Miss Louie made an excellent video explaing just that. It was so helpful!

SEVEN || In a Virtual World
How cool would it be to someday go to work or school without ever leaving your home? Apparently a lot of libraries are testing out VR technology in their communities! Out of this world!

  1. Wow, sounds like you had the busiest time ever! Well done for powering through with your sore throat, and hopefully you'll get better soon!
    I can't believe how expensive the rent is in DC, and I thought England was bad haha! Living with roommates is definitely something I want to be over with in the next couple years... Glad I'm not the only one who's been through that process!

  2. oh thanks for sharing! i'm excited for jessica jones s2 too! it's been awhile so thank goodness they are finally coming out with the 2nd!

  3. Oh wow, what a busy time for you, wow! I hope you get some rest soon, and all the tea drinking helps you feel better soon! I've been busier than usual and my throat is starting to hurt, so honey and lemon will be my drink for a while, ha! Fingers crossed it helps.

    Can't imagine rent being that expensive, but I've never rented here. That's a crazy roommate story, I'm glad I didn't have to deal with anything like that!

    Hope you are having a lovely weekend and getting your rest! :) Going to be a little rainy here again but it should be a bit cooler too so I'm not complaining!
