Winter Skincare Essentials

Winter is the season for changing up your skincare routine! I definitely add a few more products to my routine in the winter to keep my skin fresh and healthy - the cold dry air really fires up my eczema-prone skin. I have compiled a list of a few items that I think everyone should have in their winter skincare routine to combat those dry-skin woes!

A really good hydrating lotion

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

First things first - you need a really good moisturizer to help bring hydration to your dry winter skin! My personal favorite that I’ve used for years is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. I used to get these awful dry patches of flakey skin all over my face and this lotion is the thing that got rid of it. I haven’t had dry patches of skin since I’ve used this! I definitely recommend it. I also like Laneige’s Water Bank Hydration Gel as well - it’s super hydrating.

a great lip balm

Rosebud Salve

Do you get chapped lips from cold windy days in the winter? I do! I always end my day by applying lip balm before heading to bed! I’m pretty loyal to my Rosebud Salve but another great option is this Fresh Sugar Lip Hydrating Balm. Or, you can get a good old fashioned Chaptstick (get the candy cane flavor - perfect for the holidays!)

an Amazing Face Oil

The Ordinary Rose-Hip Seed Oil

Face oils are something I only recently started to add to my skincare routine but they’re amazing and so hydrating! There are so many benefits to moisturizing with face oils such as anti-aging properties, protection against cold, dry weather, and calming rashes, blemishes, and various other skin conditions. I LOVE my Rose-Hip Seed oil from The Ordinary at just under $10 which is an amazing price. I would also recommend Tarte’s Maracuja oil as well!

a bomb Face Mist

Mario Badescu Face Mist

I pretty much only use face mist in the winter because sometimes you just need a little bit of extra moisture throughout the day. Fun fact: I used to carry a small bottle of the Mario Badescu Facial Spray on my flights because the air would get so dry. The best things about these sprays are that they tend to be really affordable too! I also recommend Glossier’s Soothing Face Mist and this lovely rose hibiscus face mist from Herbivore Botanicals if you’re in the mood for a splurge.

A Fantastic Hand Cream

L'Occitane Hand cream

Hand cream is a year-round necessity for me but even more so in the winter. L’Occitane has been my favorite brand for hand cream for years, (especially their almond hand cream - smells heavenly!) The one I’ve been using is from L’Occitane’s collaboration with Rifle Paper Co. How cute is the packaging??

a Fabulous Night Cream

Origins Night-A-Mins

If you haven’t sensed a pattern yet, this post is all about hydration and what’s more hydrating than a night cream? I LOVE My Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins and I’ve used it for years! I even did a review of it here if you’d like to read it. I also recommend Mario Badescu’s night cream if you’re in the market for something more affordable.
