May Bucket List
I don't know why April seemed both extra long and very short to me. I feel like so much has happened in April but when I think back to it, it seemed like it all happened in a blink of an eye.
April was kind of a hard month for me. I had a few anxiety attacks this month - something I thought I had gotten under control for the most part (I haven't had them since 2015) and it was awful. I have been lucky to have had a great year so far so I was bound to have a bad month sooner or later. I can't really pinpoint what triggered them, it was a few things that started piling up. I've luckily gotten through them and I feel so grateful to the support system I have in my friends and family. Brian especially has been my rock lately! I'm always glad that Brian is in my life but this month he was a trooper!
In any case, I'm glad for a fresh start in May! Here are a few things on my bucket list.
Host a barbecue on the roof:
I have an awesome rooftop with a pool, grills, and lawn games and I've been toying with the idea of starting a weekly apertif and barbecue session with my friends this summer. When the weather is steadily nicer, I am hoping to start this.
Take my mom out for Mother's Day:
My parents are planning a big move soon so I'm planning a big dinner out for her on Mother's Day.
Go to Jazz in the Garden:
Every year, the Smithsonian hosts outdoor Jazz music events on Fridays. I've always gone but I never made it to a single concert last year! I feel like I have some making up to do this year!
Read three books:
I am really excited about my reading list for the month! I'm currently reading Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman, and Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Try a new restaurant in my neighborhood:
Despite having lived in my apartment for officially one year now, I haven't gone to all of the new restaurants and bars that are here! Hopefully, I'll manage to get out for dinner one of these days. There's a brand new bar that opened a few weeks ago and I've been meaning to try it. I think I should just bite the bullet and go.
