National Book Festival | Striped Sweater and Denim Shorts

The National Book Festival is the most anticipated event of the year for me. As a book lover, this is definitely one of my favorite events in DC and I was so happy that I could attend it with my best friend, Jen (who also happens to be a librarian - double whammy!) There were a TON of awesome speakers and book signing events. Unfortunately, we couldn’t go to them all but I was happy to attend the interview of Madeleine Albright (whose book I’m super excited to read!)
As you can see, I really stuck with the basics in this outfit - what’s more classic than a striped sweater with a boat neckline? I bought this sweater from Uniqlo on a whim and it’s become one of my most worn pieces. It’s on the lighter side but has a good weight to it so it’s great for the Summer to Fall transition season. I can’t wait to wear my silky rayon blouse underneath it or tuck it into high-waisted jeans this fall. It was a very hot and humid day but inside the Convention Center where the book festival took place, the air conditioning was working overtime so this sweater was perfect for it.

Who doesn’t have a trusty pair of denim shorts for the summer? I think I wore mine so many times when the weather got hot. Funny to think that a pair of jean shorts I got on a whim years ago would get so much mileage! I love that mine have a bit of a distressed look, making them very on-trend. I’m quite reluctant to pack these in right now, even though Fall is quickly heading towards us, but on hot days I’m still pulling these out of my wardrobe.
