'Cause I Know That it's Delicate | Sézane Amandine Skirt and Everlane Shirt

Something about this skirt and shirt combo reminded me of a safari uniform and it ended up being perfect to wear in the “tropical” section at the US Botanic Garden. If you’ve never visited and you’re in the area, you really should, not just because it’s super Instagrammable (it is) but because of all the beautiful plants and flowers you’ll see. I think a lot of bloggers in the area had the same idea as I did because we ran into two other bloggers getting their pictures taken here. The US Botanic Garden (not “botanical” garden as they corrected) switches out their plants every season so you’ll always see a gorgeous variety of different flowers. What’s not to love?

Sézane Amandine Skirt
I remember falling in love with this skirt when Sézane first came out with it. I bought it off of Poshmark at the end of last year and was just counting down the days until the weather got warm again so I could wear it. It’s a great skirt for both work and play - I can wear it to the office and it’d work for happy hour afterwards! The midi length would admittedly look nicer if I had longer legs or if I got this skit hemmed but I’m rebelliously into this awkward length on me. I think it’s more demure and I’m just super into this silhouette at the moment. Plus - even better is that the skirt is a paperbag waist (which is quite trendy) but the color is this lovely vintage brown that’s reminiscent of the ‘70s in France.

I knew I wanted to keep the top of this outfit more clean, structured and form-fitting because the looseness of the skirt didn’t lend itself to look great (at least on me) with a billowy top. In fact, I tried a flowy top with this skirt and I just looked like I was drowning in fabric. Not so chic. This Everlane shirt is an oldie but a goodie. I got it last November on Black Friday during their “choose what to pay” event. It’s a great shirt that goes perfectly with jeans for a casual look, and with slacks for a professional vibe. It even goes with this skirt for some real safari vibes!
