All About That Bas(ics) | Black Cropped Tee and White Jeans

I’m all about the basics, and especially a basic color palette. My outfits have been full of soft neutrals lately but today I thought I’d change it up a bit with a more punchy and bold version of neutrals. Whenever I think about wearing black and white, I tend to gravitate towards wearing black pants with a white top. Not today - Spring is for white jeans and crop tops! I wore this outfit to the Library of Congress. I don’t live too far from it - maybe a 20 minute walking distance. It’s one of those weird locations where you can definitely walk there but it’d take a while, but it’s too close to call an Uber for a ride, if that makes sense? Brian and I decided to try those electric scooters. We managed to find two Lime scooters. They are so much fun!

Black Crop Tee
This is an old tee from H&M that I actually got three sizes up. I liked the idea of a loose crop top that cut a bit longer on my torso than a tight-fitting high crop that I would have had if I had stuck with my normal size. I think it’s a great twist on a basic (no pun intended) and I’m pretty comfortable with the amount of skin it shows when I’m out and about. I tend to wear this tee with high waisted pants but it’d also look great with a denim skirt (will be a post soon!)
These jeans are a couple years old but still going strong! If I could buy another pair of white jeans though, I would get a high waisted pair though because after wearing exclusively high waisted bottoms for the past few months, I kept feeling like I had to pull these jeans up higher, only to realize… they don’t actually go any higher haha! Actually, scratch that, I realized the day we took these photos that I probably can’t be trusted with white jeans because after these photos were taken, I spilled coffee on them. Good news was that these photos had already been taken and I didn’t need more pictures. Bad news is I was pretty far from home so I had to scoot around town in coffee-stained white jeans :(
