Cherry Blossoming | Blush Crop Top and High Waisted Shorts

The best thing about DC in the Spring is that we get beautiful cherry blossoms that bloom that cover the city in pretty pink petals. I took advantage of one particularly beautiful day by going on a bike ride around the city. Even though the picture of cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin is the most famous, I steered clear because frankly, the tourists crowding the area frustrate me a bit (I don’t do large crowds very well). Instead, I found lots of gorgeous cherry blossoms in other parts of town and took pictures there. Much fewer tourists, same great trees.

Blush Crop Top
I bought this top at a thrift shop before my shopping ban. In fact, I bought two, one in blush and one in black. This blush colored one (the same one that’s a part of my Spring 10x10 challenge), is in a size large, but I actually really like the really loose silhouette. In fact, because it’s big on me, it’s not as cropped (AKA the hem is longer) so I really like it. The black one I have is in a size medium, which is also a bit big on me, but like I said, I like the looser silhouette with crop tops as it gives a nice boxy cut around my frame.

High Waisted Shorts
These shorts were a godsend! I found them while I bought my culottes from this post, last winter. They were on sale and they still are at the Brass. I loved the high waist, the vintage silhouette of them and the really lightweight material. I like that these shorts aren’t too short. Maybe I’m just getting old but I like pieces that are longer lately. I ride public transportation but there’s nothing worse than wearing a skirt or a pair of shorts that are too short and your butt flesh makes contact with the seats on a bus or the metro. These shorts cover your butt and then some! Seriously, they remind me of something that Audrey Hepburn may have worn.
