I’m smiling in all these photos but… I gotta say, I probably should have stayed home. This is me three days after I got oral surgery (late development wisdom teeth removal). I was feeling better that morning and I was starting to feel a bit stir-crazy from being cooped up at home so I told a very skeptical Brian to take the camera to the Postal Museum. It’s a museum I had been meaning to visit, plus it was during a heat wave so I wanted to be somewhere air-conditioned. Well, after walking around for a while, I knew it was a mistake. I started to feel a wave of pain that I only recently realized was a symptom of dry socket (I got treated for it, so I’m fine now) but I forced myself to smile through it. These are the results of that. I must be crazy to be doing all this for a hobby blog (I’m not even full time!) but here I am!

Patterned Midi Dress
So… here’s the thing. This dress is actually a midi dress but on my 5’3” frame, it definitely looks more like a maxi than a midi. Still, because it’s still hits above my ankles, I’ll stubbornly refer to it as a midi on me!
I really love everything about this dress. It’s a soft chiffon material that doesn’t wrinkle (or maybe it’s always wrinkly so you don’t notice), and the sleeves and the neckline are really cute and feminine. The pattern is whimsical and fun. It’s the quintessential summer dress! I have some summer travel planned in August and I’m planning on packing this dress. It’d be great for dinners (both casual and formal) and even sightseeing. The one downside to my shopping ban is that everything I feature on this blog is usually no longer on sale, unless I specifically purchase something from a slow-fashion brand. Unfortunately, this dress is by Madewell and no longer being sold, but I did link a similar pretty dress above.
Leather Slide Sandals
I was gifted these sandals for the summer and I can’t begin to tell you how much they’ve worn already! They’re just really perfect for any casual occasion - wear them to the pool, the beach, to walk around town, for errand running - the sky’s the limit! They have a ring for your toe so they really do not slide off your feet! I walked around not just the Postal Museum, but all around the neighborhood of Georgetown in these and my feet were not hurting at all.
I think in general, a neutral-colored sandal that’s comfortable and goes with everything is really useful to have. They can take you from occasion to occasion without missing a beat! These are also a piece I’m planning on packing for my trip next month. We’ll be staying near a lake so these’ll be great to lounge around in by the shore!
