Fall is a brief but weird time in DC. Most years, we usually only get about one week of really glorious, crisp fall weather after a blistering hot summer before it just becomes a full-on winter. Recently, the weather has been teetering between late summer and early fall - the humidity levels have gone WAY down, but we’ve still had days that temperature-wise, has been quite high. I’ve been gravitating towards wearing dresses with light and summery outerwear lately and hope that it counts as “layering” and a “transitional outfit” - two buzzwords you guys are probably going to get sick of hearing now that Autumn is rolling around and bloggers are getting their fall content together.

I bought this dress a while back from Reformation to wear to a friend’s wedding. I ended up wearing something else but I hadn’t worn this dress much. I obviously kept it from my rounds of Marie Kondo-ing my closet but I told myself that if it’s going to take up closet real estate, it’s going to work, meaning… I gotta find a way to wear it. It’s a great summer dress as it’s a linen blend, not to mention the lovely blush color is very feminine and pretty. Best of all, it has pockets! I will say, the bodice is quite tight. My chest isn’t that big (I’m a B cup) but it sort of makes the boobs I do have do a va-va-voom thing that I don’t always mind. I think a lot of Reformation’s dresses are quite form-fitting up top though. It’s a splurge, as are all of Reformation’s pieces, but at least you know that their company is all about sustainable clothing and for every order, they send you information on how much of an impact your order had on the environment compared to similar orders from non-sustainable brands. It’s interesting to see the figures for yourself and, I gotta say, it did make me feel good about my purchase.

What can I say about this denim jacket that I haven’t already said before? It’s been a staple in my closet for years! I know the oversized silhouette for denim jackets is very in at the moment but I always come back to this fitted, slightly-cropped version. Interestingly, I bought this jacket from H&M at least four years ago and it’s still going strong. Like I always say, if you’re going to buy fast fashion, better take good care of it to make them last forever and turn it into slow fashion! Denim jackets are perfect for this time of year, especially when they’re a lighter color like mine. They still have that summery feel but will keep you warm when the temps start to drop at night.
