Product Review: Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara

To be honest, mascara really isn’t a makeup I tend to dish out a lot of money for. Mascara has the shortest shelf-life at three months before you have to throw it out so spending more than $10 seems a bit excessive for my cheap self. Then, I got a sample from Sephora of the Givenchy Noir Interdit mascara and it changed my life. I decided to splurge on myself and get this mascara. These are my thoughts:
what it claims to do
From the Sephora website: Noir Interdit Mascara ensures that lashes are deeply reached—from the root up—for ultimate length. Featuring an innovative 90° bendable brush that’s inspired by Givenchy's backstage shows, this mascara offers a unique stretching formula to sweep on the ultimate lash extension effect—without compromising your lashes and customized volume. It seamlessly gives you intensely lengthened, volumized, and defined lashes.
This mascara comes in a very luxe-feeling packaging Like the description says, the mascara comes in a very luxe-looking square tube with texture along the sides. Most of my mascaras come in a round tube so this was new. I also need to talk about the wand more than anything though because it’s really unique. Instead of a 360 degree brush wand, it looks more like a comb. At first it was a bit tricky to work with, just because I’m not used to it, but once I got the hang of it, it did WONDERS for my lashes. It does a great job of lengthening and separating each lash. It also bends 90 degrees (as seen in the photos) to help give you volume as well. 5/5
I was actually incredibly impressed with the formula because it kept my lashes curled all day, and I have really difficult to curl short lashes. One coat isn’t enough for me though, but two coats give me a naturally fluttery look that I love. The only thing about the formula that I wish they could improve on is the lack of volume. Despite the wand’s ability to bend, it doesn’t give me the look of big falsies-style lashes that I like but that’s just me being nitpicky. There’s also a perfume-y scent that comes from this mascara. I only ever notice it when I first open the tube but it fades (or maybe I go nose blind to it) after applied on my lashes. I actually don’t mind the smell, and I’m someone who’s super sensitive to scents. That said, I can see how some people would find that a turnoff. This is, however, a great everyday mascara. 4/5
This mascara costs $29 which is definitely on the more expensive side. I’ve personally never paid so much for mascara before so I did think for a while before purchasing it. I will say that for the money I paid, I more than got my money’s worth out of this mascara. I personally think it was worth it but I would hesitate before repurchasing. 3/5
