Coffee Chat Vol. 24
I'm changing up the format of my Coffee Chats post a little bit - not much is changing but I'll be bringing more links from all over and will organize them a bit better. I hope this will making your viewing and reading experience much more user-friendly!
on the blog
Did you see my post on mental health for people of color? It's honestly a conversation more people should be having, in my opinion.
My best friend Jen came through with another great book review on the life of Robin Williams!
I don't know how I lived my life without my FAB cleanser before, but now it's a staple in my life.
You may have noticed but I now use Disqus for my comments section! I realized that I often respond to comments but the Squarespace platform doesn't really let the original poster know I've responded. I hope that in this way we can get real discussions going!
Around the internet
I'm not single but I found this study on how people behave on dating apps to be so fascinating!
Aretha Franklin's death had me in tears this week! R-E-S-P-E-C-T the Queen of soul!
This was a very interesting op-ed about misusing the term "bullying" that I think is helpful to read.
I'm not a breakfast person but these a great tips to getting into it. I love the idea of "Bagel Mondays"
currently reading
I can't put down A Very English Scandal by John Preston. They actually made a show based off the book on Amazon starring Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw!
I'm also listening to Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I'm not normally one for romance novels but this one has managed to suck me in.
My next book will be Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan.
wishlist
I have been lusting after this lemon dress from Anthropologie but with only one review on the site (and a negative one at that) I'm not sure I should get it? Apparently it's very short but I wonder if I order it in regular sizing instead of my usual petite size (I'm 5'3"), it may be long enough on me? Decisions, decisions.
Not so much a wishlist item anymore as I bought it but I shared on Instagram a really cute art print I bought at my local bookstore. It showcases small pictures of various women's desks (including Amelia Earhart, Marie Curie, and Athena the Goddess). It's so cute and a bunch of people asked where it was from. After realizing they don't have it on the website of the bookstore I got it at, I did some research and found they sell it here. The proceeds of this print will be going to the Times Up movement so get them while you can! #femalesarestrongashell
I ordered this Madewell Transport Rucksack but I got waitlisted. It was supposed to ship on the 15th but now it says I may have to wait until the 22nd. I'm thinking I should just cancel the entire order but... that leather backpack is SO gorgeous! What would you do?
I think I turned into the heart eye emoji when I saw these loafer mules from J.Crew! They're just the perfect color, and I LOVE that bow!
noteworthy sales
Urban Outfitters is having a 30% off sale on all BDG denim styles! I really love UO denim, especially their mom jeans!
If you need work clothes, one of my favorite places to get it is Banana Republic. Luckily, you can get 40% off all styles with the code BRFRIEND.
Everyone loves Target for their home goods! Right now you can get 25% off on decor - perfect for students moving back into the dorms
this week i...
Brian went to California to visit his family so I spent a few days alone and talking to no one. As an introvert, this was a dream come true! I love Brian but having a few days to myself was pretty awesome! Last weekend I pretty much got all my blogging work done on the rooftop pool of my apartment! If you saw on Instagram stories, I was wearing this swimsuit (under $40!)
A friend of mine had his 31st birthday this past week and we celebrated by...getting ice cream! We went to Ice Cream Jubilee and it's delicious! If you're ever in DC, check out this local favorite. I can safely vouch for the Matcha flavor!
I got invited to go to DC Fashion week this year! I'm seeing a fashion show in September so now I have that to look forward to. I'm trying to think of what outfit I should wear to this though. Any suggestions would be helpful!
