District of Fashion Show | Draper James Magnolia Persley Dress and Navy Heels

I mentioned this last week but I went to the District of Fashion show last week! I had an awesome time, and it was great seeing local DC designers showcase their collections! My favorite was Peruvian Connection - I always walk by their store and loved their pieces on the mannequins and this show reminded me to stop by and pick something up!
I wore my new Draper James dress that I got during their Labor Day sale. I honestly never know what to wear to these kinds of events so I opted for something summery but professional. As soon as I walked into the venue, I felt very much out of my element. Every guest there was so stylish and high-fashion! Luckily, I met up with a few Instagramers and Bloggers I follow. It was so awesome to finally meet my faves in real life!

I don't know what I was expecting when I went to the District of Fashion show but it exceeded my expectations! If you ever go to a fashion show, expect appetizers (this event was catered by Oyamel and Zaytinya, both José Andres restaurants), cocktails, and LOTS of networking. As an introvert and a shy person, it was all a lot for me to take in. I got there about an hour before the actual show started so there was a lot of time for socializing. It seemed like everyone came with friends and since I came alone, I reached out on Instagram to a few DC bloggers I follow. Luckily for me, I found out that Rohini was there. She introduced me to a few other DC bloggers I've followed forever like Sarah, Caroline, and Victoria, as you can see from the video we shot there. There were two runway shows, with ten designers' collections. While the show went on until 10pm, I didn't stay that late as this was held on a Wednesday and I had work the next day. Still, I wish I could have gone to the afterparty as I heard it was fun!

If I could do the District of Fashion show over, I would wear something a bit more trendier and summery than what I wore. Still I am so glad I got this dress as it is generally a great work-to-happy-hour dress. This Draper James Magnolia Persley Ponte dress was originally $125 but I got it during the Labor Day sale for a whopping $49.98!! I know, what a steal, right?? It's still on sale, but is now $98 which I still think is a pretty good deal. This dress is made of a ponte material, which is my favorite because it has a nice weight to it. I like that this dress has work-appropriate sleeves and a higher neckline. The A-line silhouette is super flattering and the magnolia print is very pretty. The dark color also makes this dress perfect for the Summer to Autumn transition. I just can't say enough good things about this dress, frankly. I can't wait to wear it in the Fall with either a cardigan or a denim jacket!
