Rayon Blouse and Pointed Mules

Top: Uniqlo || Bottoms: Madewell || Accessories: Tory Burch Robinson double zip tote, Kate Spade necklace (old, similar here) || Shoes: Madewell Gemma

It seems that Autumn is officially here and here is my official uniform, or more precisely, the look that you’ll most likely catch me in on any given day. A loose, silky (or in my case, rayon) shirt, a pair of high-waisted jeans, and a comfy pair of mules are my jam! I was dreading the wind and rain that we were expecting to get over the weekend from Hurricane Florence but in DC, we actually had extremely pleasant weather. I hate that this is coming at the expense of those in the Carolinas though. I am keeping the coastal towns affected by Florence in my thoughts and in the meantime, here’s a great article listing all the great ways you can help with relief efforts.

madewell gemma mules

I’ve had my eye on these mules for a while. I liked the idea of mules but I wasn’t sure if I wanted to start off my jumping aboard the mule trend by forking over $98 for them from Madewell (even though they’re gorgeous). I managed to find these on Poshmark for a markdown and I LOVE them! Brian was skeptical about buying shoes that were already worn but I was assured by the seller that they were very lightly worn and…well I don’t know, it doesn’t bother me all that much. I always recommend Poshmark or ThredUP when you’re thinking about buying into an expensive trend. Thrifting and consigning are environmentally friendly ways to do fashion, I think. I love that these particular ones have pointed toes because they elongate my legs (something I always need at my 5’3” height). I was worried about them staying on my feet but they fit quite comfortably and doesn’t move off of my feet at all when walking. The english saddle color is so gorgeous and a very versatile neutral.

madewell High rise jeans

As you can see, I’m on quite the Madewell kick lately! I bought these jeans recently on sale for 15% off. I have another pair of lighter Madewell jeans but they’re wearing out at the knee so I figured I should get a more versatile color jean. I am loving high-waisted denim so I opted for the 9-inch rise in a Patty wash. They are super comfortable and fit like a glove. I think they’re still on sale too so definitely check them out if you haven’t already. As I’ve said, I’m quite petite so I love when my pants are high-waisted because they give me a bit of length. When I went to buy them, my size was out of stock in the petites so I opted for the regular size. They are a bit long on me but I created a temporary hem to fix it until I can take it to a tailor. I can do a quick tutorial at some other time to show you guys how to hem your jeans because it’s quite easy and it keeps its hold forever!
