What I Packed for Traverse City: Beauty Edition

Earlier this week, I posted a travel diary of my time in Traverse City, Michigan. I included a section of the clothes I packed for the trip but today I want to talk a bit about the beauty and makeup products I brought with me.
The trip was a week long and I knew that for a majority of it, I would be on a boat in Lake Michigan. I also knew I’d be having dinner a few nights in downtown Traverse City and at the Neahtawanta neighborhood potluck party. Armed with this knowledge, I kept my beauty bag heavier on the skincare side (especially SPF products) and minimal on the makeup side. After time in the sun, I knew I had made the right decision.

Lancer The Method: Polish: This travel-sized exfoliator came in a set originally from Influenster. I still had some leftover so I thought it’d be a good time to use up. After spending a lot of time outside, I was only too happy to exfoliate my skin at the end of the night. I really love this exfoliator because it does a great job of getting all the dead skin off my face, but the graininess can be harsh so I only used this exfoliator three times during my week-long stay. If you’re in the market for an exfoliator, this is a great one.
Lancer The Method: Cleanse: This is the second step product in the Lancer set. I used this cleanser every day. I do like this cleanser an, while not pictured here I brought my Foreo Luna and using that tool with the cleanser makes all the difference. One note about the cleanser is that it does have a scent. It doesn’t bother me too much because I find it rather pleasant, but if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing, I’d be weary of it.
Lancer The Method: Nourish: Last step of The Method set from Lancer, this product is the moisturizer. I liked this moisturizer a LOT better than I used to. I think when I first received this set, it was in the winter and I found the moisturizer to be lacking for my eczema-prone skin, exacerbated by the dry winter air. Now that it’s summer, I found the moisturizer to be perfect as it didn’t over-hydrate my skin like some moisturizers do.
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream Crème fouettée: This is a moisturizer-serum sample I’ve had for a while but I never used it until this trip. I mixed it in with my sunscreen in the morning and what a difference it made!! I can’t really verify this but I did feel like it made my sunscreen feel more like a moisturizer and, as I used it as sort of a primer for my makeup, I think my makeup lasted a lot longer. As soon as I use up the serum I have at home, I’m definitely going to purchase the full-sized version of this.
Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid: I used this toner at the end of the night (before using moisturizer) and I quite liked it! I guess I don’t have a lot of experience with toners but I was surprised at how un-drying this was!
Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream: I used this cream in the mornings, before sunscreen and I liked it well enough. At home, I usually use my First Aid Beauty Face Cream for my day moisturizer and while I liked this one from Dr. Jart+, I didn’t like it better than what I use now so I don’t think I’ll purchase it in its full-sized glory. Still, it worked just fine, and I didn’t break out or anything like that.

Missha Safe Block: I’ve raved about this face sunscreen before and it remains one of my favorites! It’s from a Korean brand and it seriously is not greasy at all! I usually use it like a primer for the rest of my makeup in the morning and it’s amazing for it!
GLAMGLOW Illuminating Moisturizer: I quite liked using this illuminating moisturizer when I was in Korea so I brought it with me again to Traverse City. This is a bit like a tinted moisturizer but with a glow - no highlighter needed!
Tarte Tartelette Tease palette: I bought this palette at the end of last year and I’ve used it almost every day since! It’s a mostly neutral-colored palette and the small sized makes it very travel-friendly!
Dior Lip Glow: I’ve repurchased this lip product several times since the beginning days of my blog and for a good reason - it’s just a perfect lip product! It’s sort of like a lip balm in texture and the color changes on your lips depending on the pH levels. Natural and lovely!
Milani Baked Blush in Rose D’Oro: I brought this baked blush with me because it’s in a lovely shade that also is dark enough on my skin tone to also act as a bit of a bronzer as well!
Kat von D Tattoo Liner: Another product I’ve reviewed before, I’ve found this eyeliner to be the longest-lasting and the darkest. I usually do a very thin swipe and I don’t wing it out too much at the end for a more subtle look that was perfect for this trip.
Chanel Le Volume 10 Mascara: I got a sample of this and I may just need to buy the full-sized version now because I don’t know how I managed without it! It lengthens, volumizes, and makes my lashes look amazing!
