One of my favorite activities to do is visiting farmers’ markets, and luckily for me, I live close to a few so on the weekends in the summer, I grab a tote, make a grocery list, and make my way to getting some farm-fresh produce! I’ve noticed recently on my way to the farmer’s market that my style is now back on trend… well, a very specific trend. The so-called “Coastal Grandmother” aesthetic, that is! Have you heard of this? If you haven’t, the vibe can be described as “Diane Keaton in a Nancy Meyers movie.” Think older, sophisticated woman living her best life in cashmere, linen, gardening, and sipping white wine in the summer with a cozy book. Oprah is a great example of the coastal grandmother style and I am all about it! It was with this in mind I put together this outfit (but with a slightly younger and modern twist)

The Outfit

I got these pants from AURA the Label and I swear, they’re the best summer pants I own! I love the loose silhouette and the soft and breathable linen material. They have been such a godsend this summer with the hot and humid DC weather, and best of all, coastal grandmother-friendly! I almost wore a linen oversized shirt on top, but got way too hot, so I opted for a neutral tank top instead. The modern twist of this look comes from the cropped top. I used to shy away from crops, but with the body positivity movement, I’m learning to embrace my body and wear what I want. I think cropped tanks are cute and I want to feel cute wearing them so here I am!

What I got at the market

I usually go shopping for produce with a loose list of what I want and need. I knew I needed some leafy greens to eat throughout the week and I luckily found some spinach on sale almost immediately so I bought some for salads, smoothies, and everything in between! I also found some asparagus that I couldn’t resist picking up because they looked so delicious! I got the idea to roast them as a side for dinner and drizzled with a spicy Korean gochujang sauce. (yum!) We also got some apples on sale that I like having on hand when I get snacky. All in all, good shopping trip!
