Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Face Exfoliant

I've been using St. Ives Apricot Scrub as my primary exfoliator for years before I was introduced to the Origins Modern Friction Dermabrasion and it was amazing! I was going to buy it again but a friend of mine (who also has dry skin) recommended the Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Face Exfoliant. I've been using it for a few months and I have a few opinions I want to share with you guys:

The Fresh Umbrian Clay exfoliant comes in a standard squeezable tube. Like most Fresh products, the color scheme is simple and clean which I like. The squeezable tube ensure I get the exact amount of product I need and the closing has a satisfying "click" to it. 5/5

This is where my review gets interesting. The look of the scrub is clay-like (as it says on the tin) and the texture is quite sandy. It almost felt like I was rubbing really soft sand onto my face. It wasn't abrasive at all, like the St. Ives scrub, but it wasn't as gentle as my old Origins dermabrasion. I think I prefer the Origins' texture but I found the formula of the Fresh exfoliant to be a lot more effective. My skin didn't get that tight pulling dry feeling it sometimes gets after exfoliating either which is a huge plus. 4.5/5

I bought this exfoliant at Sephora for $33 which, compared to other high end exfoliators, is on the more affordable side. That said, I had been using drugstore brand exfoliant for years so I had to take a breath before I made the price jump. Still, I think it was absolutely worth every penny because it's simply better than my St. Ives scrub - it's more gentle, it's not drying, and it's more effective. 3.5/5

Overall I would recommend this exfoliator. It's a huge upgrade for people using drugstore brand exfoliator like I was but it's totally worth it.
