I feel a bit guilty writing this post because summer is almost over and most of you guys are probably not really thinking about going to the pool anymore, but I just had to. The last few days of summer are quite precious to me and I'm not quite ready to let go of my pool time. I mentioned before that my apartment building has a rooftop pool and going there this summer has been a dream! I love having such an accessible pool with a great view of DC and I am trying to savor the last few weeks before the pool closes for the year. I've gathered a list of things I think everyone should keep on their packing list when heading for the pool!

Reading material
I never head to the pool without something to read. I have an iPad mini and the Kindle app is downloaded there but I've found that the glare makes it hard for me to read anything on it when I'm outside. I am so glad I got my small Kindle on Prime Day last year because I can carry so many books in it! Kindles aren't terribly expensive and if you have limited shelf space (like I do in my apartment), I highly recommend them. Need books to read? Check out my book reviews here.
sunscreen
If you're going to get a tan, always put on your sunscreen! There's so many to choose from but I personally like the Banana Boat Sports sunscreen and the Supergoop sunscreen. I believe if you're out for an extended period of time, SPF of at least 30 should be adequate but I tend to go for SPF 50 or higher because I tan SO easily.

Water
Being in the sun all day can really be dehydrating so make sure you're getting all the fluids you need. I bought a Camelbak water bottle late last year and it's probably been the best investment I've made. If I fill this up twice in a day, that's about as much water I need to drink in a day. I know a lot of people swear by their Swell bottles or Hydroflasks (my good friend is a fan) but nothing wrong with a good old-fashioned plastic reusable bottle too.
phone charger
Brian actually gave me this phone charger when he realized he ordered the wrong one. I wasn't complaining - this phone charger is amazing! If you charge this thing once, it can charge your phone about five times before it needs to be recharged! If I'm out by the pool all day, I start browsing Instagram or Twitter and that can drain my phone batteries pretty quickly. A good charger is essential. The only drawback to this charger is that it's quite big and on the heavier side, but like I said, one charge can last a while. This is good for me because I tend to forget to charge the charger so luckily this charger doesn't need to be charged very often. It's a pretty good deal on Amazon and I really recommend it!
