A few weeks back, Brian and I grabbed a rental car and drove to Annapolis. It’s actually only about a 45 minute drive over but because it requires a car to get to, we don’t really make it out there all that often. But every spring, without fail, Brian and I will start getting cravings for crabs - especially Maryland blue crabs! We like to go to Cantler’s Riverside for our crabs so we made the trek over (and took some snapshots around downtown Annapolis as well). Annapolis, for those who may not know, is the capital of Maryland, and as political nerds (we live in Washington, DC working in advocacy after all), we love walking around surrounded by the historical buildings and seeing local advocates at work. I think we arrived in time for prom season though because we saw lots of young people getting their pictures taken in groups wearing formal wear. I can see why they did so - Annapolis, especially by the waterfront, is really beautiful. The boats coming in and out of the docks are super Instagrammable too (always a bonus for a blogger). Plus, the weather was especially nice that day so we were in for a great time.

Wrap body suit
You may remember this bodysuit since I’ve worn it on the blog several time since I bought it two years ago. Still going strong for a Forever 21 piece I bought on a whim! Despite my mission for a more sustainable wardrobe, I haven’t thrown out all of my clothes from fast fashion brands. I’ve mentioned this several times but I want to reiterate that throwing away fast fashion clothes you already bought is actually a lot worse for the environment than buying it in the first place. It’s actually much better to wear the said clothing over and over until it wears out completely… and then cut it up and use it as something else (like a rag or perhaps quilt a blanket?). In my case, I’m going to keep wearing this bodysuit because not only is it weather appropriate for those not-quite-hot-not-quite-cold-but-kind-of-breezy days, it stays tucked in flatteringly into my jeans because it’s a bodysuit!
High waisted Jeans
What can I say about these jeans that I haven’t said already? I feel like when I first bought these Everlanes last year, they were a bit snug, but the more I wear them the better they fit! They don’t have the greatest amount of stretch but I really like that structured look. I did have to get them repaired recently when I realized a belt buckle had ripped off completely. I just took it to a dry cleaners/tailor and had them stitch it back on (I would have done it myself but there was a gaping hole in the pants where the loop ripped out of. Ripped seam? I can sew that back. Hole in jeans? I need some help!). They look good as new! I try not to wash these too often as that’s actually not good for jeans. Instead, I learned from the Levi’s website, it’s better to store your jeans in the freezer for a few hours to help get rid of any odor or smell. Freezing jeans helps kill bacteria. It seems to work in my case!
