I can feel that my style is definitely gravitating towards the more "minimalistic" lately. I've been trying to ween myself off of most fast-fashion (for the most part super trendy, cheap-quality types of clothing - steering clear of polyester) and in the process I've been trying to wear things that I already have. I'm in this weird place in terms of my style where I want to embrace minimalism, or at the very least the aesthetic and I'm scared that my style will become stale or boring. At the same time, I also think it's important that I am myself first and a fashion blogger second. I happen to like my old boring clothes - they make me happy. I did a HUGE closet purge and the items that I kept are the items that sparked joy in me so I will happily continue to wear the crap out of them. Even my old Converses that everyone seems to have traded in for Adiddas Stan Smiths lately.
I actually like this simple outfit - I like to think this is what cool-girls wear. I've never been a "cool girl" but in my mind a cool girl wears basics like they were made for her and doesn't care what anyone thinks of her style because she's too busy doing her cool girl things. Maybe I'm just trying to build up in my head a cool girl as a slightly out-of-reach version of me (though not too out of reach haha) because like I said I'm really not a cool girl. I've always felt like my style was one step behind trendy and clothes looked cheap on me and I never quite fit in anywhere. But wearing clothes that make me happy makes me feel cool too.
Thanks for reading!

It is wonderful you like the pieces in your wardrobe that remain and I agree this outfit with the wonderful top and the cool denims is beautiful! I think minimalistic style is in general a good choice :)

ahh i love this look! especially the contrast of lace and converse! super cute!
ReplyDeleteI think it's important to remember you're yourself first and a blogger second. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in doing things "for the blog." And I also feel the same way when I wear minimalistic clothes... somehow I never look as cool as the girl on pinterest XD I like this easy look! It's chic and wearable and the lace is a nice touch :)

ReplyDeleteLove the black & white look with jeans! That is usually my go-to color combo, with a hint of light pink xx
ReplyDeleteLove the feminine detailed top paired with the Converse!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so cute! I have a few tops like that with lace at the bottom are gravitate towards them often.
ReplyDeleteSometimes minimalism is the best way to go, and I think you took the right decision about fast-fashion and rediscovering your wardrobe favourites. Trends come and go so quickly that we might as well rely on the basics, they'll never go out of style!
ReplyDeleteAlso, you do seem to be a cool girl to me, I don't see why you wouldn't be one! :D

There's nothing better than a super comfy go-to outfit!
ReplyDeleteGreat everyday outfit! Simple and Fresh!
ReplyDeleteLove that lipstick colour on you! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm with you - cool and comfortable basics like this make for a great outfit to wear. While it's nice to want to look fashion forward and trendy, and it can be a lot of fun too, what's most important is how you feel in what you wear.
If you feel happy with what you're wearing it will never be stale or boring. And after 7 months without buying a single fashion item I can confirm that you don't need a lot of new clothes constantly to be a fashion blogger - just wear what makes you happy :)
Hope you are having a lovely weekend :)

Your OOTD looks stylish and comfortable, and I love the extra feminine touch added by the wide lace hem on the boat-neck top. I love the comfort of converse trainers myself. Cute outfit!
