Work Conference Essentials

I've worked in two different trade associations in my career and I have about five years of work conferences under my belt. I've gone to conferences both as a host (as in my association is organizing the conference, not me by myself!) and as just a regular attendee and I can tell you that hosting is a LOT more exhausting than being an attendee. Hosting requires you to be on call almost 24/7.

So it's with this experience I write this post today about a couple things that you should keep on hand while either attending or hosting a conference. Let's face it - conferences can be long and arduous. My coworkers and I always say that a conference is a marathon and not a sprint. You need to take care of yourself for the entire duration of it, not just go all out one day and be tired for the next week.

Here are some of the things I recommend:

March 2018 Bucket List

Whew!! I had one crazy month and I'm so glad it's over! February was so hard and I felt like I had so much going on, I barely had time to breathe. I talked about my anniversary, my blogiversary, my brother and dad's birthdays, and of course, the work conference. Bring on March and my bucket list, I say!

Coffee Chat Vol. 7

I've been pretty MIA this week as I had a huge work conference I was working at! We held it at the DC Convention Center where we had almost 6000 attendees. I had to work both Saturday and Sunday (on top of the fact that we didn't get President's Day off because of  this conference) I've been non-stop since last Monday (the 19th). The conference ended on Wednesday night and I've been in recovery mode since. I started feeling a sore throat coming on since Monday and I pretty much lost my voice on Tuesday since I didn't have time in between to call in sick - I'm kind of a mess at the moment! I've been drinking a LOT of tea in the meantime and it's been helping.

Now that I've got that out of the way (and you know now where I've been for the past week), here are a few things that manged to catch my eye.
