Last weekend I finally moved house! As I mentioned in this post, I found a new place in my price range in a neighborhood I love about 10 minutes away from my old place. Moving at the end of April sounded like a good idea in February when I first signed the lease to the place, but it actually ended up being over 90 degrees, making moving conditions miserable. On top of that I had to get the timing of the move just right - the time I reserved the loading dock of my old place had to end just at the time I reserved the loading dock of my new place which also had to align with the time I reserved the moving truck. Poor Brian who was helping almost had a heat stroke! We were crunched for time and trying to stay hydrated. Luckily it's all over and I'm moved in but we still have some furniture we need to buy. I also don't have access to the internet in my new place yet but hopefully we'll be wired up this week.
I think the lesson I learned is that I should just hire movers in the future. I'm past the point where I can live on a suitcase like I did in college. I'm older, I have more money, more clothes, and overall more stuff. I can afford to make my life slightly easier and not have my friends suffer from heat exhaustion.
In any case, here's an outfit I wore a few weekends ago I never had a chance to post. I think I won't have time to post as much this week as I'm still trying to clean up and have limited internet access. Regularly scheduled posts next week.
What advice would you give for people who are moving?

Moving is such a chore! Especially when you have to move from country to country. I'm moving from England back to France temporarily next month, and it's going to be a pain haha. I wish I had tips for that!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is super pretty, I love the combination of gingham and pastel pink :)

Oh man, loading dock reservations?? I can't imagine what a move in the city is like, I totally empathize with your moving woes, but I didn't have to worry about loading times effecting anything, I just showed up and was able to move as I pleased so long as it was just one day... LOL, apparently I've got it made. I hope you can now enjoy your new place!! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteI love the gingham with the pink, something I would never think to pair together but the outcome is really cute and perfect for Springtime!
Much LOVE!
Hope you're settling in well after all the faff of moving! The heat must have been awful although I have to admit I am a little jealous as it is currently raining here (surprising, I know!). Your blog is looking lovely as are you in these pictures! x

ReplyDeleteWell done on finishing the move, even if it wasn't as smooth as you hoped! Enjoy your new place :)
Hope you are having a great weekend :)
